Am I mistaken in stating that there is no New York Yankees thread? If I am, do what you will with this. If I'm not, I'm shocked. There's an official Red Sox thread, a Mets thread, a MLB thread, a Pujols thread, but no thread for the greatest franchise in baseball? The descrip for the Sports section says something about discussing hatred for the Yankees. Yankees fans need some place that they can go on this message board I think. So, I think now, as the Yankees are engaged in a series with the rival Red Sox (and are kicking their tails thus far let me say) is a good time to start this thread. So there you go.

Now, my take on the current situation with the Yankees. I wish they weren't so star-studded. I loved the Yankees of the late 90's with the homegrown talent and the relatively normal payroll. It's hard to love them now, because its a bunch of rich people running around on the field. Still, I love my team, and my team is the New York Yankees, even if they have Giambi and Damon. I still dislike Damon.

On that note, Melky, running back, at the track, leaps, robs Manny! Keeps the Yankee lead at 2-1
This could be the year the Yankees break the "mini-curse" and win the World Series.

Oh yea, forgot about that.
The Yankees Suck thread.
That should be included as a reason for this thread.

I have a feeling that this is the year the streak of division titles and playoff appearances comes to an end. They just have too many injuries to overcome. Unless Abreu and Jason Schmidt fall into their laps, I think Boston wins the division.

I am pretty happy with their record copnsidering the injuries they have had so far. It may eventually be too much to overcome over a long season but I do love that we are getting a taste of some of the youngsters right now, and they are producing. Long way to go.

Sheff is out until September....
But that gives a spot to Melky, which is good. I like having the younger players too.

C'mon Yankees fans!! After a game like today's this thread has gotta recieve some more love. Wang seems to be getting himself into some great pitching duels lately. I love that! Plus it was Bernie's 2000th game as a Yankee, Mo got a save, and Jeter was back in at SS. Good game. Any thoughts on the Yanks this year, fans?

First the yankees need to work on having a real Ace starter. Moose is their best pitcher by far. Then they need to work on a bullpen. If you seriously think the yanks will get anywhere without pitching and no Shef and Matsui to knock in runs you're kidding yourself.

Yea, the Yankees do need another good starter. Moose we know is doing awesome this year, but if the last two starts are any indication, Wang is looking like an ace. And they were't against sucky offenses either, it was against the Red Sox and the Indians. And the Yankees don't need Matsui or Sheff, althought hey do obviously help. Arod, Giambi, Posada, Jeter and Damon are more than what most teams have. Plus solid contributions from youngsters like Cano, Phillips, and Cabrera make it so that the bottom of the order won't kill them. And Bernie can still hit. The bullpen isn't bad either. Mo is unstoppable, Farnsworth is almost there, Proctors doing pretty well, and most importantly, theye got Octavio Dotel almost off the DL. The Yankees are fine.

Of course they don't need them, they can just go out and buy a replacement.

hughes, like a lot of yankee prospects, is a bit overrated.
