So it appears that the A's are going to deal Tim Hudson in the near future instead of paying him the $12-$14 million per season he's seeking.
This sickens me because they just paid Jermaine Dye $11 million per season. Dye didn't do anything for them. Hudson's one of the 5 best pitchers in the AL over the course of his career.
I guess "In Billy I Trust", but god..it's tough to lose a favorite player.
What have your experiences with losing great players from your team? How'd you react?

my favorite pitcher just signed with the Mets and now I'm going to watching your favorite pitcher pitch for my favorite team. It's tough, you really are rooting for the laundry these days.

when the Dodgers traded Eric Karros to the cubs 2 yrs ago i was HEART BROKEN. Same thing when the Rams dumped Kurt Warner.
but what just happened with Beltre put me over the edge. I am FINISHED as a dodgers fan. Frank McCourt is in the process of destroying a proud organization and I will not sit here and suffer thru it. i do that too much with my other teams, i couldnt stand to see my most beloved team become the fucking pittsburgh pirates

It used to bum me out, but now I realize the players really couldn't care less about the team/city, just the money. That's why I would never buy a jersey with my favorite player's name on it, because in 2-3 years they're gone. Now I just follow the team, and I do follow players I like on other teams..

The biggest trade I can think of was the Portis/Bailey trade last year. I still like Portis, but they've been doing fine in that department without him.
I made the mistake of buying a jersey with a player's name.... Garciaparra. When they traded him, and thank god they did, I ripped out the G A C A A R R A, leaving R I P. I got quite a few comments about my jersey at the Fens during the playoffs. One drunken bum told me I should market a shirt like it to sell outside the park.... to much effort though!

when the dodgers traded piazza in 1998(to florida/ then the mets), i flirted with becoming a met fan but that would have been difficult to like a team just because of one player.
also over the summer, the lakers got rid of shaq, i was disappointed for about a week or two( yeah i know some of u think i am a big "mark " for kobe, but i also am a shaq fan )

i remember when marbury forced the twolves to unload him on the nets. i still hate the bastard. oh well, we have cassell and hudson, who are both better real point guards than the me-first marbury.
Don't know if this counts, but i was devastated when:
1) Corey maggette left Duke early-i thought he could have been the next Grant Hill after the freshman year he had.
2) Steve Avery left Duke early-didn't think he was ready, and with the amount of P.T. he's getting, i would say i was right.
3) Luol Deng left Duke early-hard to see the only other solid inside player they had leave.
4) Luke Riddinour left Oregon early-thought that Luke and Luke were going to tear the PAC-10 up, but never happened. Jackson definitely could have used him that senior year, seeing as how the starting point guard (Brooks- who is no Riddinour) broke his hand hitting the hoop stand with his fist and was out for like 8 weeks.

It seems most Wings fans would disagree with me, but I really hated seeing Chris Osgood go. I thought he had put up with a lot of shit in the organization, deserved more credit for the Cup he helped them win in '98, and just got overall shit on by the management as a whole. Yes, Hasek came in and won a Cup, so I couldn't bitch too much. I just always liked Osgood. He didn't complain to the media, he didn't sit in the corner and pout, he just dealt with the situation and played well when asked. I actually rooted for Ozzie to beat the Wings when he was with the Islanders. Now that he's with St. Louis, that doesn't happen anymore. Man I miss hockey.
I also was very disappointed to see Grant Hill leave the Pistons. In the end, it's worked out the best for Detroit. Grant was and is a class act, and I'm extremely happy to see him doing so well once again.

Phillies trade Rolen and Schilling for bums Sixers trade Barkley Reggie White becomes the first major free agent
i was glad to see rolen go b/c he didnt wanna play for the phillies, but ill give him credit, he might be the best 3rd baseman ever. schilling hurt, but i knew it was coming. he's a good guy though, he stuck around philly longer than he had to.
its not too often that letting players go becomes a problem in philly, just look what happened when w/ taylor and vincent, or even trotter and hugh. the biggest problem ive had in recent years is when bobby clark got rid of brian bouchet and kept roman checkmanik. but robert ecsh is better than both of them so who cares.
and just b/c no one said it, dallas getting rid of emmit smith. fucking idiots they are lucky jones is looking really good

When Brett Hull left the Stars and went to the RED WINGS... it took me a couple of weeks to get over it, but after awhile I was fine... then after Darien Hatcher went to Detroit, my hatrid for everything Red Wings reached it's peak... whadda ya know, it's still peaked... man I miss hockey
When Emmitt Smith went to the Cardinals... always wanted to see him retire in a 'boys jersey... too bad things couldn't work out... yet another casualty of the Jerry Jones cold shoulder technique
Lastly, even though it wasn't a trade, seeing the Stars lose Eddie Belfour was maybe the saddest thing I've ever seen... He defined the Stars for me for awhile, so that one took some getting use to...

I can completely understand the Dallas fans who disliked the Cowboys letting Emmitt leave. Yeah, it wasn't the most loyal thing, but I strongly believe it was in the best interests of the team. He's past his prime and in the current NFL climate, loyalty doesn't play too highly. Of course, Jerry Jones' win at all costs attitude sure doesn't help.

Just wait until they trade Sheets this season. But after he pitched his ass off last season for a shitty team, I wouldn't blame him for wanting to go elsewhere.
(I'm a Brewers fan too)
