begins today... even if Phil falls short, Tiger finally has his rival... and quite frankly, im going to be a Phil fan
as of right now, you may even consider Phil to be the best golfer in the world... Tiger won't rest for long, but at this moment, i think it's Phil's game

Right now, Phil's completely dominating Tiger. Granted, Woods has his family issues that can really mess a man up, but he wasn't playing his best game before this either, and Phil was.

this is so big for golf, i think tiger was a huge draw for golf when he first started out and was winning all the time, but that shit gets old fast. these 2 fighting for wins every week and especially in the majors will make the PGA very intresting again.
and like i just said in the us open thread, phil is my fav and has been since i was first starting out playing golf so long ago, so ill always be pulling for him

(and we're not taking those silly golf rankings into account)
you just asking for opinions?
For real, it's Tiger. Right now, IMO, it's Phil. But overall IMO, shit man, Tiger fucking killed everyone with a level of domination unparalleled in his early career.

well, thanks to Phil, this thread really didn't take off
and i think that fact that Tiger missed the cut this week shows that his game is lagging, due to his time away from it... if Tiger does make the cut this weekend, then i dont think we question who is the best... but Tiger is sliding... and Phil was rising, but now i dont know... this major couldve crushed ole Lefty for a while... we'll see

I don't think you can use Tiger's performance this weekend to measure his current level of play in any way. If the final day wasn't on Father's Day, I think he may have skipped the Open altogether. His head wasn't in it at all.

his play had fallen enough that i felt Phil was the best golfer in the world... i was wrong.

no way... Tiger has been the absolute best, no questions asked, for quite a while now... and barring an absolute failure by El Tigre at the British, this thread was pointless, and i have failed.

No he hasn't. Not absolute best, at least. Tiger was the absolute best 4-5 years ago when he won four straight majors by something like five strokes every time. He was the absolute best golfer in the world. Now Tiger hasn't won a major this year, and only one recently, I believe. How is he the absolute best if he's not winning all the time? He's not. He's still one of the best golfers in the world, but right now he's playing at best, as well as Phil is.

Tiger wouldn't have been as fucking stupid as Phil was today.
Damn right. And nor would he have choked over a relatively easy 2nd shot like Monty did on the last. Man Phil just played some of the dumbest golf ive seen in a long time in a critical moment. Thats the difference for me between the two. Phil has the short game that Tiger would love to have, but Tiger just plain knows how to win tournaments.
