If the Beltre thing didnt destroy my love for the Dodgers then this 3 way trade has definately completely killed my rooting for what once was the LA Dodgers.....
so I need to pick a new team. Who should it be? I dont want a super-power like the Yanks or Braves, theres no fun in rooting for those types of teams.
Should it be the Mariners? They did sign Beltre, my fav Dodger last year, and there's the whole Seattle/PJ connection. They are a possibility.
The Orioles? I am already a fan, just not a big one. I think I love the stadium and the city more than the actual team, plus they are stuck in the same division as the Yankees and Sox....
The Red Sox? while I respect and rooted for them last year, you cant just jump into the red sox nation. Rooting for the sox is something your born into, not select whenever.....

Oh I am considering the Mets too since theyre local. But they are a franchise that just seems to be snakebit and just cant do anything right, no matter what it is, from Mo Vaughn to Tom Glavine to Pedro...great players seem to go to tFlushing and then just die, right Roberto Alomar?
You know just thinking of this whole thing I realize how hard it is to get the dodgers out of my system.....this may not work after all.....there should be a type of sports therapy for this kind of thing!
why not go for a "fresh" start and go with the Expos/Nationals?

eh, they might not even stay in DC! plus that logo is awful
yeah, but think about it, you'll be part of the initial group of fans for this team.....you'll be getting in on the ground floor! No other MLB team can offer that perk!
the downside: their GM has been making some awful moves.

The answer is quite simple -- the San Diego Padres.
They're usually near the middle of the pack, meaning that they may make the jump into contention.
They have some very good young talent.
And they play in a beautiful city that you wouldn't mind making a trip to at the beginning or end of the season as a vacation.
I am a huge Red Sox fan (I was born into it), but I root for SD as my national league team knowing that there never was a chance that these two teams would ever meet in the playoffs.
There really isn't too much downside with SD, other than those awful brownish unis they wear, but they change their look pretty often, so it's not like you'd be stuck with those too long. And, to make the transition even easier, they do sport a hat that is much like the LA cap, a solid blue with white interlocking letters. It's just making more and more sense the more I type.
