and what drugs are they on?
I've heard the band name before but never any of the music until a few days ago. I think it's 2 brothers? The vocals remind me of XTC guy Andy Partridge (sp?), and the music ranges from drug haze mellow, to just plain messed up.
I'm not hating them but I can't figure out how to describe them.
Anyone have any thoughts on them?

They go by the names Dean & Gene Ween, but they aren't related. I saw them live last year, very excellent show. If you're interested in hearing more of their stuff...check out Pure Guava or God Ween Satan: The Oneness. Songs to explore:

Haha, I heard Bananas and Blow last night! Pretty cool song but it's one of the reasons I want to know what drugs these guys are on. I didn't know they were just stage names but I thought it was kinda weird that someone would name their kids Gene and Dean Ween unless they wanted them to grow up write music like this!
I'll be listening to more of them I think if for no other reason than to see what else they got up their sleeves because so far every song I've heard is completely different from every other song.
I have Chocolate and Cheese and its the only album I've heard by them. Which is stupid, because I really like that album and I've had it for 6 or 7 years.

I just dl'ed Chocolate and Cheese. It's good stuff. I understand that they do their recordings on 8-track recorders--really stripped down, but that might just be a rumor. They have a country album too that was recorded with a lot of legendary country sidemen that's supposed to be really good.

I heard that the session guys they got in to lay down the music were extremely unimpressed when they heard the final versions of the songs.
