What is the project he is referring to?

KING'S X frontman Doug Pinnick has posted the following message on the band's official MySpace profile:

"I am home from the last KING'S X tour. It was awesome to play for and meet many of you people at the shows.

"In this time that I have off from touring, I plan on writing a few tunes for KING'S X and solo stuff. The project I did with Jeff [Ament, bass] and Mike [McCready, guitar] from PEARL JAM will be finished soon! They (PEARL JAM) are on a world tour now but since I am home I am planning to do what I have to to finish my vocals, which has been the hold-up.

It was from quite some time back. They allegedly had most of the stuff recorded by 2004. The project began well before that.
He has been talking about it for years -

Kings X opened for PJ back in 1994 so the relationship probably formed as early as back then.

Honestly, I don't listen to Kings X and the only time I ever even hear about them is when Doug is plugging that side project with the PJ guys! I guess that is a decent way to get a few years worth of cheap publicity (just kidding) (well, not really).

Ok, back with a little more info.

I did some research and discovered that the July 2001 Rumor Pit was the first announcement that Jeff and Doug were "talking about doing a project together".

So talk of this thing has been floating around for 5 years.

this is supposed to be Jeff's new side-project, named 'Montana' (for the time being ;) )

And it's Doug Pinnick, Jeff and Richard Stuverrud, with Mikey contributing some leads. It's near completed for years now, so we'll see.

yep, the last time Richard S toured here with Tribe After Tribe, he already mentioned it. And that's years ago...

a not so tall womanizer with hair on his chest
He's an extra percussionist in Tribe After Tribe on tour sometimes, used to be in a band called Pilot and he's also in Three Fish.
