Anyone else in mourning over the passing of this incredible band? I got into GBV about a year ago and they've quickly moved into one of my favorite bands, just under PJ. Robert Pollard is undoubtedly one of the most talented songwriters of his genre, even his decade, and they put on an incredible show. The last show in Chicago on NYE was 62 songs and something like 5 hours long! Anyone else a GBV fan around here?

I have Bee Thousand, Alien Lanes, Universal Truths and Cycles, the Greatest Hits, and Mag Earwhig. They are all amazing.

I'm working on getting a lot more of their stuff. I never got to see them in concert.

great band, bob pollard wrote some incredible songs. I saw them on their electrifying conclusion tour, they played for 3 + hours and I've never seen a band get so drunk. It was a fun show.

The best of... (Human Amusements at Hourly Rates) is one of those cds that should be in everyone's collection.

I've only heard Bee Thousand, Alien Lanes, King Shit And The Golden Boys, and Earthquake Glue. out of those my fav is Alien Lanes, totally awesome record. I need to dive deeper into their catalogue.

I have their best of, GREAT stuff.
I've been meaning to get into their back catalog for a while now, but I haven't had the money.

there albums are really hit or miss but theres a ton of great songs not on the best of.

its only on some benefit or something I believe but everyone should try to get a copy of Choking Tara (creamy version) pretty much a perfect song.

I love GBV. The last SOTM I had was a toss-up between "Heroin" and "Game of Pricks." I went with the former, but love both equally. Easily one of the most overlooked bands of the past 20 years.

This thread deserves much more attention for two reasons:

1.) GBV is an incredible band
2.) I'm currently downloading their entire catalogue from OiNK.

Update: i'm almost finished going through their entire (studio albums) catalogue, and what a journey it's been. they seem to kind of fall into a rut with Do The Collapse, but pick up again with Earthquake Glue. Alien Lanes[i] I've decided is my favorite, I can't get enough of that album (I've had it for a while, though). [i]Bee Thousand is a stone cold classic too, and I'm looking foreward to re-listens of Propellor, Under The Bushes Under The Stars, Sandbox, and Mag Earwhig!.

I listened to Bee Thousand and Alien Lanes earlier today. Really good records. They have a shitload of albums. Can anyone who knows enough about them give me a run-down on which ones to look into and stay way from?

isolation drills and half smiles of the decomposed are pretty classy.

and under the brushes and earthquake glue both have a handful of great great songs.

Great tune.

I'm really looking forward to getting more into these guys. I'm sure they're a good band.
