was listening to mike and mike this morning and they were speaking with peter gammons... anyway, gammons is going to be awarded a very prestigious award given by the HOF i believe (apparently the highest baseball reporting honor out there)... anyway, he mentioned that some of his musical friends will be coming over to put on a show... just wondering if ed is one of them as peter is such a big fan, and im sure he knows the boys pretty well... have to keep an eye out

Gammons does not know the band very well, he just quoted them to death in his columns on espn.com during 2003 and 2004.

What prestigous award is he being given, that of being most often wrong as a prognosticator.

wasn't he sitting side stage at one of the boston shows in '03? i would say you have to know the band at some level to sit side stage.

This is true. I believe they played Thumbing My Way for him also.

I believe that Peter received the Ford Frick Award, which basically puts him into the HOF as a writer. I also believe that only one journalist recieves this per year, and PG is very very deserving.

I saw him back stage at Boston 1 on the VFC tour. They know each other.

You were backstage at Boston 1? That would be so cool. Did you show Gammons your dancing banana?

Gammons was next to the stage with Red Sox GM Theo Epstein for at least Boston 1 this year.
They do a charity concert with some other local guys and some Sox players, they put out a compilation CD last year, had a pj song on it I believe.

Is it just me, or did anyone else think that Gammons was like 80 years old?
He's actually only 59!
