I'm taking a trip to Vegas fairly soon and was mulling over whether to get a PSP. I'd be primarily interested in the video side of it as the PSP has a big screen. Some cool games would be good but I'm just wondering if they are all they are cracked up to be? Also a friend mention something about being able to surf the internet wirelessly, is that true also?
actually i saw one and i thought it looked great....i once took a trip by plane..took a gb advance..it really helped pass the time on the plane, and you have a much longer ride than me..

My boyfriend found his laying on the ground in the ghetto behind his truck a few weeks after they came out. He's the only person I know who had one when they first came out with no messed up pixels at all.

I love my PSP. Just took it to Mexico and loved playin games to kill time on the beach and relax and in airports and planes. You can get them modded out and play a ton of games. I played Legend of Zelda all damn week.

my flatmate had a DS. on top of penis envy he envied my PSP. his games were all shit.
Nintendogs (i dont know) Animal Crossing.. Mario Cart (good for 5 mins) Ridge Racer Another Code (or something)
and a few others. but yeah, DS is shit.
Nintendogs is among the 4 games in history that had a perfect scory on Famitsu. Mario Kart is awesome and has a great wireless multiplayer. And there is also the new Castlevania, considered the best since Symphony of the Night.

What makes PSP great, is that if you buy it, and spend about 100 bucks on a good memory stick for it, you can store every NES, Genesis, and SNES game ever made on it for free. Plus you can put some movies on there as well. With the DS, you are basically buying a system that you can pay 30 plus dollars to replay old N64 games on, or bad versions of them. But PSP games do suck, and if you are not going to take the trouble to learn to emulate games on your psp, then buy the DS. The games are cheaper and better, and nobody should miss out on Trauma Center.

I've heard that you can do this. I have every NES, SNES and Genesis game on my computer, and I think this would be worth the purchase of a PSP. I probably wouldn't even buy any games for it, just use those.

i owned a PSP last year, i never really played it much, it was a waste of money for me.
DS is way better in terms of games, since you can play all the GBA games on it too, and the touch screen is just too cool.
The movie thing was an okay idea for the PSP, but i find watching movies in a tiny screen silly, mostly because i love the theatre experience: big sound, big screen, and so forth.
Trauma Center on DS is awesome, so is Phoenix Wright: Ace Attourney

I bought my brother a PSP for Christmas and he loves the thing! He's got a ton of old school Genesis and Nintendo roms loaded onto the machine using the 4GB add on hard drive. The PSP is truly a wonderful machine, you can even rip dvd's and convert them into smaller formats to play off your hard drive if you'd like. As far as I know the PSP can emulate not only the Genesis and the original NES, but also the SNES, Turbo Graphix and Neo Geo..... more info on the emulation process can be found here: http://www.the-gadgeteer.com/article/emulators_for_the_sony_psp_an_overview_of_the_best

the PSP rocks, whips the DS silly and then pees on it.
The games aren't great at the moment but they are getting better (GTA Liberty City Stories) but with a bit of knowledge and a knowhow of google you can get the games relatively cheap
The screen quality is second to none and the ability to rip movies and watch them wherever is great.
The downside is the battery life isn;t great and and headphones that come with it are fairly crap, so an investment in a larger battery and a decent pair of headphones is required.

just MHO
1) Is Liberty City any good on PSP? I played it recently on PS2 and it seemed like a step-back from San Andreas in terms of how much you could do straight off the bat.
2) Larger battery? How can you get them?
3) Yeah, the headphones are ridiculously crap.

LCS is better on the psp because its a psp. You can;t really compare with San Adreas on the ps2 becuase of the size.
You can order larger batteries a lot of places, ebay is good

Cheers for the advice guys, I'm fairly set on buying now!! But what size memory card should I be looking at? I'd want to be able to watch my own ripped DVD's.
