Just starting to explore these guys, really. what's their best stuff?

Dust is their best. But don't ignore their early garage band stuff like most people do, it's great as well.

I really like the 1999 album I downloaded, but don't know too much about it. I think Josh Homme was playing with the band...

Dust. Absolutely fantastic album. 5 stars. 10/10. A+. Awesome rock record.

Dust was one of the best albums of the 90s. It would have been huge if it had come out a few years earlier.

Sweet Oblivion was their creative peak.

Sweet Oblivion is the best start to finish but Dust is excellent aswell. As previously mentioned, they have a great back catalogue but I only go back as far as Buzz Factory. I don't like anything before that.

I still play Sweet Oblivion at least a couple times a month. Barett and Mark are stupendous on that album. Don't know why that record wasn't as big as less consistant ones from their contemporaries.

Sweet Oblivion >>> Uncle Anesthesia > Dust

all 3 of those records are must haves.

outside of PJ, the Trees are my next fave Seattle band from that timeframe. funny thing is i still listen to them w/ more regularity now than any of those bands (PJ included)

Here we go with the Dust/Sweet Oblivion debate again...

I'm firmly in the DUST camp, but Oblivion is certainly worth owning.

I would say that Dust is a better album in terms of variety and flow. The concept of an album (nothing to do with music) with the sequencing and dynamics are better represented on Dust but Sweet Oblivion is just such a solid record. Every song is amazing. There isn't much variety but it's just 1 great song after another. Pound for pound I would say the songs on SO are stronger it just doesn't have the artistic merit or cohesiveness that Dust does.

Did that make any fucking sense to anyone?

Sweet Oblivion has More or Less, which therefore makes it better than the rest

that and i think Dust sounds a bit polished for a darker band like the Trees imo.

Dust has "Dime Western", so it wins.

you can't go wrong with either dust or sweet oblivion. I'd take either of those records over anything to come out of seattle other than PJ's first three albums

Uncle Anesthesia has some good songs but it is clearly leaps and bounds behind those two.

If you're into garage rock their early stuff is fun. The old greatest hits is a good intro. Even, if and especially when and Invisible Lantern are my favorites of the old records
