PUT THAT COFFEE DOWN!!!
Coffee is for CLOSERS only.
ABC Always Be CLosing. ALWAYS be CLOSING!!!!
You're FIRED!!
5 runs, whore hey. 5 Runs!!!!! Geez.
18 of 34 converted dosen't cut it at all. The set up guys, pretty good in the last few weeks, but 4.65 ERA and complete and utter ineptitude when it comes to throwing strikes and getting outs to end games.
at what point do they give up and trade Smoltz to the Yanks?
they can have anyone not named Hughes...

I didn't even see the game last night. I just saw the bottom line where it said they won in Extra innings 8-7. I was like, "oh sweet, they won!"...then found out they were up 7-2 in the 9th!!
And Electromatic, I think Smoltz SHOULD be traded. He's my favorite, ever, but he's old and we could actually get some good young talent for him. As long as he's not in a Yankees uni as someone said I would love to see him help a contender out and possibly get another ring. They guy deserves it.

Smoltz is the heart of the team though. Outside of a proven world class closer...which they won't get, who's going to come in and make a difference?
I'd rather them take their lumps, dump Thompson on the next thing smoking, fill his slot next season with James and Davies, find a first baseman who can hit for power and average and take every dime of free agency money and go sign the best closer they can get.
Oh, and kick themselves for getting rid of Jermaine Dye. Boy would he be a nice sight in left field.
They are probably going to have to trade Giles too, because his contract is coming up.
