I'm just wondering if Washington state's nickname is actually State of Love and Trust. I heard it somewhere before, but couldn't verify it. It says it is on Wikipedia, but I'm guessing that a fan could've just slipped that in there.

Can anyone verify this?

Washington
On November 11, 1889, Washington became the 42nd state to enter the Union. It is the only state named for a president. Washington was nicknamed “The Evergreen State” by C.T. Conover, pioneer Seattle realtor and historian, for its abundant evergreen forests. The nickname was adopted by the Legislature in February, 1893.

They are the Evergreen state, but I do like this license plate.

I do think that's a better nickname anyway.

Some states have several nicknames, with only one being official (the others can be considered "official" unofficial nicknames, if that makes any sense). Is State of love and trust an "official" unofficial nickname?

For example, Colorado's official nickname is Centennial State, but it's unofficial nickname is Mountain State.
