I understand that, yet I can't imagine them being able to sustain that after getting rid of two of the best young pitchers in baseball. Honestly, I wouldn't have been surprised to see them trade Zito. But to get rid of both Hudson and Mulder is completely surprising to me. But they'll probably win the division again, so they probably know what they're doing.
It surprises me too, but Beane said he is doing this to have a great staff for the next five years. All the guys they got in these trades are excellent players.
Maybe Zito's next. The Mets and R. Peterson would love to get him into Shea.
The Mets, have all the pitching they need, until Pedro's arm falls off that is. But the last thing the Mets need is more pitching. They need to be able to score at least one run, which with the lineup they have now, will not be possible. Face it, the Mets will suck yet again. Next thing you know, they will trade for Sammy. Definately right up there alley.

O.K., I'm guessing you don't like the Mets. I'd take Zito in a second. You can never have enough pitching, especially lefties. I agree they need bats, and not Sosa. It looks like the Braves are going after him now. Hopefully, we'll have Delgado by the end of next week and we can find someone to take Cliff "Achilles" Floyd off our hands and then overpay for Manny to join Pedro.

Man, you would fit in well with the Mets Management. There is no chance Manny will be on the Mets, he is not a free agent for one thing, and they have absolutely no one the Sox want. Rumors of the Mets going after Sosa are circulating, so don't be suprised if it happens.

From what I've read, we stopped looking at Sosa after the Giambi steroid story broke. And the Wilpons didn't want him to begin with. It was Minaya who wanted to sign him. Who's your team, if you don't mind me asking.

Might be able to figure it out from my Avatar.
I just read an article from ESPN.com, that metions the Mets interest in Sosa.

Ah, another Sox fan. You guys are becoming even more obnoxious than Yanks fans lately. The Mets might suck now, but I'll never forget '86. Thanks again Billy B.
well, they have one of the five lowest payrolls in MLB and they win about 95 games every year, soo my guess is no.
how many playoff series do they win?
depends what year you mean, not that it makes a single bit of a difference either way.
Winning 95 games and going to the playoffs is one thing, actually getting past the 1st round is another.
yes. If you place more emphasis on winning three out of five than on 95 out of 162 then something is haywire there. The playoffs are a crapshoot. That is, the best team doesn't always win. Therefore, a team losing a few playoff series doesn't make their management team "retarded."

No, I think they have done an outstsnding job staying competitive. I just don't know why they can't get out of the 1st round.

This is true, but only in the NFL, because anyone can win one game. But the other 3 Major Sports, the best team is definately determined with a 7 game series.
