He definitely deserves it, that sucks. At least he's a rookie, though. I'm sure he'll be in plenty of All-Star games to come.

There's a lot of deserving players left off the AL All-Star team. I'm not too happy with the selections. Carl Crawford deserves it over any of the reserve outfielders, and Liriano deserves to be at least the third string pitcher there, especially over the KC pitcher they've got there instead. Ri-diculous.

Redman was chosen because of an MLB rule and Crawford deserves to go over Sizemore, and that's it. Compared to previous years, this is probably the best job MLB has done with All-Star rosters in this decade.

The K.C. Pitcher you speak of is Mark Redman, who has won 6 straight decisions for the freaking Royals! Your right, his numbers don't compare to Liriano, but he definately isn't as bad of a choice as every one says. As long as there is a rule that each team must have 1 player on the team, this is going to happen. Dontrelle Willis didn't get picked at first his rookie year with similar numbers, only got added after a injury. Liriano is a rookie. Sorry that's the way it goes. Remember a few years ago when the Devil Rays sent Lance Carter to the All-Star game? That was the wort pick ever. They had Aubrey Huff putting up big numbers that year. The Royals have nobody else at any positon.

Over whom? Thome or Big Papi? Only room for so many DH's, and those two are better than Hafner.

does the AL really have to play a second baseman?

Konerko is a 1st baseman, Hafter is a pure DH. And in terms of DH duties, Thome has done about as well as possible this year. Dude is on pace to hit 60 HRs. I think he deserves it over Haf, but that's me.

hafner:

BA: .320
OBP: .462
OPS: 1.117
HR: 25
RBI: 74
RUNS: 68

thome:

BA: .298
OBP: .417
OPS: 1.018
HR: 30
RBI: 76
RUNS: 68

hafner owns in batting average and on base percentage. otherwise, i guess they're about even. could go either way.

Ding ding ding. We have a winner.

If MLB didn't think it could make money by selling the rights to TV networks, selling those fucking obnoxious jerseys and whatnot, there may not even be an All Star game. It doesn't mean very much at all, except that most players get bonuses if selected. The same players who say it's an honor to get picked by the fans are the same ones who gush over fans and then go to a new city for more money. I can't wait for the All Star game to be over so this will stop.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to save my sports arguing strength for October for when some guy who hits meaningless home runs again and again somehow wins the MVP over Papi.
