And not just Split Enz/Crowded House. Some acts that probably havent made it round the world, but are well worth a go.

Opshop- You are Here (Lead singer has a very Bonoesque voice, great summer easy going rock) Standouts: Nothing Can Wait, Saturated, Being, No Ordinary Thing
Supergroove- Traction (Possibly what Beastie Boys would sound like if they were born in Seattle? Im poor with descriptions..) Standouts: Scorpio Girls, Cant Get Enough, Sittin Inside My Head, You Gotta Know
Fat Freddies Drop- Based on a True Story (Roots/Dub music which is incredible live, especially with a fat joint.) Standouts: Wandering Eye, Dark Day, This Room
Shihad- The General Electric (Tried to crack the American market under the name Pacifier to avoid post 9/11 hysteria, but went back under their old name and better than ever. Good Kiwi Rock) Standouts: My Minds Sedate, Wait and See, Pacifier & Home Again (not on General Electric but is a must hear song and is regularly voted #1 Kiwi rock song- on self titled album)

Im sure more will come to me later on, these are just some of the obvious ones. Feel free to add more if you have ideas.

Definately agree with the first one, although Pluto just aint my cuppa. I will get into bands like HLAH, Scribe, Salmonella Dub soon.

I thought it was a catchy song! Youre right though I just couldnt think of a hiphop artist to say, I dont like the whole genre and any rap rubbish that comes out of NZ but I felt like I had to include something for everyone. Note I didnt say Fast Crew.

This was my fault for mentioning poor hiphop names to cover all the bases, from now on im narrowing the demographic.

Head Like A Hole- Are You Gonna Kiss it or Shoot It? (These guys are good. Born from a bunch of guys jamming War Pigs at high school, I hear a lot of Mudhoney/Screaming Trees about these dudes) Standouts: Comfortably Shagged, Wet Rubber, Maharaja and also Hootnanny off their record Double Your Strength, Improve Your Health & Lengthen Your Life
Betchadupa- The Alphabetchadupa (Youll recognise these guys as the two guys on guitar and guy on drums on History Never Repeats on 7 Worlds Collide with Ed, one of them being Neil Finns son Liam.) Standouts: Easy as it Seems, Supa Day.

There's a another great band: The Datsuns

It's sounds like 70's Rock and have those old Rock influences. It's normal in a certain way because their manager John Paul Jones.

Harmonic Generator video clip

Mf From Hell video clip

So there you are 8)

You can always tell a good New Zealand musical export. Because once they are good/ popular, they become Australia's best musical export. And thats the way it should stay :P

The Datsuns are a very good band. So them live in Amsterdam once, they were amazing, full of energy. Felt sorry for the guitarist when after the crowd had been mosing all night, he thought he'd dive in after a guitar solo. You'd have thought he was Moses! Crowd parted, he went in hard, I heard him thump the floor from up on the balcony. He could thrown back up on stage, looked very dazed and confused. Great show though!!

Wouldnt have been if I had've seen it...Jonny Toogood is a rock god. Love is the New Hate was another bloody solid album, and All The Young Fascists was probably their second best single just behind Home Again. What a great track. I was poor when they played in Auckland last July so couldnt go :(
These are all great names in here, the Datsuns' new single is brilliant and the D4 actually outplayed Velvet Revolver at the Supertop gig when I saw them. And I couldnt agree more with the guy who said anything good out of here gets claimed over the ditch, although Russell Crowe and Thirty Odd Foot/or whatever the new name is can remain yours.

A day before New Zealand Music month too. Great timing.

I can't think of anymore NZ bands to add, except a local band, Eyes on Everything.
