I'm not the best at SF3:3S, I'm waay better at MVC2 (hella domination with Psylocke/Doom/Sentinel - cheap, I know), but SF3 is more balanced and has just plain better mechanics, if you ask me (parrying makes it shine)

I agree. That is exactly why I picked it over MvC2.

I'm surprised you prefer the SNK engine for the vs. series. How come you like Alpha 2 more? Do you dislike the guard crush system and the fact that everyone can do an air throw?

I don't really prefer the SNK system, in fact I think I ranked mvc higher. I'm a little confused. I like it and all, but the problem I have with SVC2 is that there are hella mismatch issues. if you go to an arcade and sit down against some dude who isn't playing ryu/evil ryu/ken/cammy/Custum-combo sakura/blanka/sagat you are probably playing someone who doesn't play the game very much. Otherwise you are straight up set up for a massacre. I've been killed too many times by Sagat/ryu/evil ryu players. waaaaay too unblanced. I was never too good at it, but I loved a team of cammy/Rock (fav character ever)/sakura (somettimes kyosuke because I love him lots but really he is a weak fucking character).

MVC2 is really unbalanced too (ie wolverine being a punk bitch and magneto/storm being unstoppable in the right hands), but it is a lot of fun, and I got REALLY good at it.

Have you ever played Mugen? It looks pretty cool. also there is an arcade emualtor that lets you play online with some games (only on the older arcade chipsets, MVC2/SVC2/SF3 not supported atm). You should get it if you want to be stomped arounf (or stomp me around) some

Funny, we try not to play with Wolverine as much because he's among the best, or easiest to dominate with, characters in the game. Along with Spiderman, and Cable. I usually mix it up between chun-li, sakura, Jin, Rogue, and Jill. Always Jill though, she's far and away my favorite.

hahah wolverine is probably the second worst character you could play as (the worst being a tie between Roll and Bone Wolverine) Seriously, his life bar is so weak, one good combo from someone will knock it down half a life bar. In other games he is a force, but he is easy as cake in MVC2, I found. Keep him at bay with projectiles, or if you are doctor doom you seriously only need to do a molecular shield (or as anyone else, call in Doom's B-assist (or Sentinel's Gamma, or Juggernauts' Juggernaut Punch).

Jin was the first character I ever played as. In short, he's a better hulk, and his bonus when he is part of an almost dead party is wicked. Chun-li is really crappy in this one I've found, Her moves are weak and don't combo very well, all her assists suck, and her supers are awful. I like Jill. I like Rogue in that she has that one unblockable throw that drains power, but I am not very good at all with her. SOme of her kicks mix things up well, too. I love sakura to death, but I am no good at controlling dark sakura. (dragon punch away and two punches, I think, takes 3 life bars).

The way I see it, there is the Marvel vs. series and the SNK vs. series. Capcom vs. SNK 2 and SNK vs. Capcom 2 are actually two diferent games. The former being developed by Capcom and the latter by SNK. Since you have SvC2 in your list, I assumed you preferred the SNK developed game to the Capcom developed game...you know what I mean?

I like Capcom vs SNK 2, the very same one you listed (Kyosuke and Kim on the cover). I haven't played SVC (which i think is called SVC:Chaos), so it was just a typo error on my part. I do love SNK developed games, though

my friend recently got me addicted to third strike, and now thats probably just about my second favorite 2d fighter. second only to guilty gear x2. i dont like playing marvel vs capcom 2 much because my venom/mega man/jill team just gets massacred by magneto/sentinel/dr doom. svc chaos was kind of cool too, but mostly just cause of zero.



i know, they made him so crappy in that game, i was so disappointed. he can combo and stuff but his individual hits do nothing so it never really adds up. but his level 3 super is still the coolest thing in the game.

Apparently, it costs a fortune to keep the Marvel license, so MvC2 is now out of print. This also means we probably won't see a "Vs. Anthology" like they have done (and done well) with these two games:


So is this what SF fans are going to get now? I highly doubt there will even be any more CvS games, so is Capcom going to be lazy asses and give us shit like CFE...or can we get something real like SF4 or CvS3?

my god, capcom fighting evolution sucked. im a huge darkstalkers fan so i was looking forward to seeing some of them again... gigantic let down. the only thing i liked about it was that dante from devil may cry was in jedah's ending. but the endings were so retardedly done that it didnt even matter.

This is true. They released a Darkstalkers anthology in Japan called Vampire: Darkstalkers Collection but it will apparently never be released in the US for reasons I do not know. It looks like a very nice collection which includes DS 1-3 as well as Vampire Savior 2 and Vampire Hunter 2 which are just upgrades of DS3. The game also features arrange modes and alternate modes with separate rounds or non-recoverable damage. It looks great, but I really don't know why the fuck they won't release it in the US.

Kind of makes me want a modded PS2.

i almost got this yesterday..i thought it had all the guys from sf2 and darkstalkers..i got all fired up..luckily the dude let me check out the booklet and i noticed it had like 4 peopel from each game

i ended up getting the street fighter 2 anthology, i wanted that at one point but got the alpha one instead (i like sf2 much better)..i almost got that capcom one bec i was like whoah sf2 and darkstalkers together..plus it was like$10 cheaper..i wouldve been so pissed..
