if you were the chiefs would you trade priest for some good defensive help in the off season??? Larry johnson is showing he can fill his shoes.

Hell no. I'd never trade him.

If they trade Priest, the Chiefs record will not be good next year... I don't care what anybody says, but when the pressure is on, Larry Johnson will not perform... Priest is a keeper

as the Chiefs Fan of the board i must say there is no way in hell the chiefs trade Preist.
with lj and preist we can afford to rest holmes for the playoffs next year, the chiefs totally wore him out this year.
and although LJ has played great ball he is still weak in pass coverage and receiving out of the backfield, preist will retire after next year and then LJ can take over.

Without question....his trade value is high, and they have other young talent at the position. They could use the draft picks to bulk up on defense.

The only way you trade Priest is if you get a bonified defensive star in return. Like the Broncos did with Portis for Bailey. And then even so, i wouldn't necessarily do it.

First round draft picks can turn into stars....I'd trade Priest for a first rounder and a third.

True, but Priest is already a star, and it is a huge risk to take a defensive player in the first round and just expect him to be a star.

But you just look at the Chiefs...and How bad are they on defense? They need to do something. The status quo won't get it done.

It depends. PTI the other night discussed it.

Some teams would probably give up quite a bit for a young talented runner like LJ, who may just be beginning to shine. Someone who would want to make him a franchise back. I could see a mid-level or lower level team giving up picks for him.

On the other hand, Priest is tried and true, but he is not getting any younger. I could see an elite team looking for one more piece in the puzzle picking him up for a couple of years (selling out to win a championship).

I agree. I would try to trade LJ though while his trade value is high.

The thing with KC is that the line is so good that they are really making average backs like Blaylock and Johnson look like superstars.

I would definitely trade Priest while he still has some value.

Blaylock and Johnson have shown that different backs can put up big numbers in that offense.

If they trade Priest, they can get at least 2 decent draft picks, and clear cap space as well.

Not many RB's play well into their 30's, and Priest is already up there.

you couldn't get a first round pick for Priest. He's aging and injury prone, and many people in the league see him as a 'system back', which LJ might have exposed. I love Priest, but his trade value is minimal.

That's a pretty good point...why would a team trade away a first rounder when they can just draft their own RB? Guess you have to find a desperate team at the right time.
