I did a search and didn't really find a 2pac thread, so here ya go.

The thing that I have always adored about 2pac is the amount of passion in his delivery. Regardless of what he was rapping about, you actually felt that he was dead serious about everything he was saying whether it was regarding thug life or teenage pregnancy. Some of his themes are redundant, but he is what many recent rap artists are not - genuine. His life took an unfortunate turn when Suge Knight took him under his wing with his Death Row label. But even still...the impressive thing about 2pac was how easily rapping came to home. The guy just wrote and wrote and wrote like there was no tomorrow, and it shows with the amount of posthumous releases he has - which unfortunately fall short in the production category, though his lyrics are as sharp as ever. He was such a complex individual who ran his mouth a bit too much and it ended up costing him. Truly sad.

Anyways...discuss your favorite 2pac albums, songs and lyrics in this thread. He deserves his own.

I am not sure if it's cause I am more familiar with it but my favorite albums are All Eyez on Me and his Don Killuminati album. I like his shit with Thug Life and of course "Changes."

I also agree with mowbs. Pac could be reading me a grocery list, but his passion and delivery make me pumped and bob my head to it. I don't always agree with what he's saying and often times he's just as stubborn and one-sided as the people he's dissin...but I love it and I don't like much rap.

2Pac's my favorite rapper but the way he lived his life, and the way it ended, was just a shame. He could've done such good and got caught up in the bullshit.

Favorite songs: Hit 'Em Up, Life Goes On, Old School

Anyone remember this sketch comedy show that was on really briefly - I believe was created by Roseanne or something ? 2Pac did "You don't bring me flowers" with Ice-T when they were hosting. It was hilarious - I still have it on video somewhere and found a crappy mp3 of it once years ago, too.

I refuse to listen to anything that was released posthumously.

Favorite Song: Straight Balling from the Thug Life album.

Another great Tupac song is Pain from the Above the Rim Sountrack.

I tell ya...the raw and open potential that rap had as a format only makes it more criminal how fucking retarded and unoriginal most of it is these days. If it weren't for that select few who make incredible, incredible records, I'd've given up on it about 5 years ago.
