who are you taking? Tiger is the easy/boring pick but this type of course allows just about anyone to win it..
Its such an open golf course, its really anyones Open . If I had my last tenner to put on , id pick Phil. If he doesnt have a major brain aneurysm like last time....
My heart is with Cambo, but I dont think he can win with his game on the dance floor with the fast greens.
Dark Horse=Adam Scott. Not really an outsider but he can do it.
Best American=Phil. He always gets it done, and if the wind doesnt blow he'll drive it straight and putt for dough.
Best European= Padraig. This guy can flat out play, and he'll know how to play in these conditions
Best of the ROW= Trevor Immelman. This guy will be top 10 before you know it.

just a bump for you other 2 or 3 golf fans.....after a bogey at 1, Tiger came back to shoot a 5 under 67 for 2nd place after the day..the eagle at 18 was nice...

Nice, id forgotten to find out. I watched Monty sulk the whole way around, that guy can find distractions in the crowd that mere mortals would never even notice. I reckon its worth 3 shots on Daly's score playing with that whinging prick, John would wanna just get up and hit it and not worry about Monty fucking about. And I really mean that, I truly think it would affect Johns play. That and being in bars playing guitar at midnight before the Open.
I bet Tiger enjoyed watching Faldo chopping it around after this comments about him! Good to see Cambo start with a solid 2 under.

i havent really paid much attention to it, but is that really a golf course? it looks like a runway with the type of grass/carpet you put on a pool deck

Seriously, what is up with some of these British Open courses? They look more like war zones than places to play golf.
This is how golf is SUPPOSED to be played folks. Those US courses where -20 wins is not golf. The US Open courses are a joke, those are prepared by pompous fishheads in the USPGA who are too scared to see low scores at their Open.
These courses take imagination, if its not windy they can be burned up and if its windy they can be a nightmare. Youve gotta drive well, putt well and think well. And they can be played rain hail or shine. Try that at your local municipal.

yea, you kinda lost me there
but in the US, you can tell the difference between the teebox, the fairway, the approach, the green and the bunkers

I mean the usual week to week tour events are like darts, just throw it up there near the pin and take 15 under for the week. British courses require more thought and artistry, and I think are more watchable.
Then I kinda went off course a bit and said the US Open is usually a nightmare, who wants to watch a winning score of 8 over and watch the best players in the world really struggle?
Why do you have to know which is the teebox and the green? The green is the tightly mown one with the stripes and the pin in it, and the fairway is the short green bit in between the long grass.

dare I say the tournament is already over? Tiger is unstoppable today..3 shot lead and just holed out from 205 yards for an eagle and still has 2 par 5s left on the back

i wouldnt say they require more artistry or thought. they do require more luck. seeings how when your drive lands it could bounce 47 feet back up into the air eiter straight up, or to the left or right.
im familiar with how a course is set up, i used to work at one when i was a wee lad
what im saying is, at the british open, you can hardly distinguish which is which. all of the examples i named (tee box, fairway, approach, sandtraps and greens) all look the same. i saw a highlight of tiger ( i think on 18, and he hit his approach shot and i was like, wow, he fucked that shot up as it landed on the brown patchy stuff.

turns out, it was the (brown) green he landed on
Yeah you make some good points, I guess it does require more luck. I dunno, its just me being biased I love the British Open especially when its at St Andrews. I think its harder to tell where everything is this week coz its been a heatwave in the UK, so everything is poo brown.
I like it how the bunkers are actually a bad thing, remember its called a hazard? Pros in the US and other places seem to think they should be guaranteed a good lie in there with no lip..its a hazard folks. I actually saw Ernie hit one tonite too and thought he fucked it up then saw it nestle about a foot from the hole..
And yeah I know -20 is gonna get challenged, but Tiger isnt a normal human being. How bout that 4 iron on 14 was it? Tiger by 8-10 fellas, the week is over. Although Sergio has started well.

To Me, Majority of European Courses, required alot more skill than American Courses, especially when it comes to driving. On some of the American Courses you can be 20 metres off the fairway and still have a good lie. Thankfully, the US Open always seems to have a course worthy of it's title.
I've backed Adam Scott to win the British Open but i can't see that happening, if Sergio putts well i think he's massive chance. I'd much prefer to see Sergio win over Woods, Els or Goosen.

Betting on Tiger with a lead going into Sunday is like betting on John Daly in a drinking contest........ a sure bet
Yep id say so, his putting hasnt been crash hot though so we'll see.
Theres been some unbelieveable shots this week, 2 holes in one, Sergio and Tigers hole outs from the fairway etc. Its been awesome viewing and ill be up for tonights round.

There you go folks. That's the difference between Phil and Tiger. When the pressure is on Phil flops and Tiger birdies. This solidifies the fact that Tiger is hella fun to watch when he's on.
