One thing that I like a lot about RA is that the songs can be viewed as a sort of conversation between two people - like an optimists and pessimist, or a sad person and someone trying to cheer them up.
I think it's particulairly the first two songs that bring that idea into my mind, but you can contunue the theme throughout most of them.
Has the RM board been reborn as a RA loving board? - this album got canned weekly on the old board - I personally like it although the second half doesn't have anything that really stands out for me. Along with Vitalogy and Binaural the only studio album I still listen to regularly. Cant keep was my fav song for a while.

I remember that when the record came out, the opinions were pretty much divided. I don't think any particular view dominated (out of the love it/ hate it)... At least that's how I remember it from 'back then'.

I noticed on the fav. PJ album thread- Riot Act is really getting its ass kicked by the other albums, what I'm real surprised to see is my fav. album ever, 'Binaural' is doing so well...
I'm relieved to be honest, Riot Act is my least fav. PJ album, & I thought I was one of the only ones
but Riot Act was real popular when it first came out amongst fans, it was voted almost as popular as No Code & Yield are on that list when pasts "fav. album" polls were on here
So does that mean most fans think Riot Act has aged badly? whatcha think? - I don't think its nearly as classic as their other albums
This doesn't mean to be a flame, it's a real good album...
It's interesting how quickly its popularity decreased amongst fans is all

Riot Act is awesome. The only two truly mediocre Pearl Jam albums (Ten and Binaural) are both hampered largely by production issues and, especially with the latter, two or three weak songs killing the flow.

Good and bad music is only heard in the ear of the listiner. What you think is the greatest thing could be shit to someone else. If your favorite album is on someone elses shitlist, don't fret. I LOVE Binaural and Riot Act. They are MY current favorite albums. For a very long time it was Ten and Vs. for me. I also think every Pearl Jam album is great in it's own way because I am of coarse a fan. We all have our preferences and i don't think they should be questioned with polls. Enough with the "favorite album" polls. They are meaningless to us since we already have our personal favorites in mind. We aren't going to change our opinions because of a poll. I think the poll helps a few feel better when a majority of people feel the same way they do. When the polls don't help, you see posts like this.

Binaural is an amzzing album of raw emotions, and you can put these on record in a studio, you have to do it live, all the Binaural songs were 100 times better live

I don't know. Of the Girl, Light Years, Insignificance, NAIS and Sleight of hand are a pretty damn cool trip with headphones on in their studio versions. Except for Grievance, which I think is better live, I prefer studio Binaural.

I'm surprised by how poorly Vs is doing, but I get it. Everyone's friend, nobody's boyfriend.

I love Riot Act, it is tied with Ten for my favorite PJ album.

I can think of two which are worse than Vs.
