Teaser trailer recently released: http://www.miamivice.com/main.html

I love Michael Mann, he's in my top 3 director's of all time. Heat is my favorite movie of all time. The Insider was so epic and timely. An instant classic in my book. Not a big Cruise fan, but still loved Collateral. His style is so unique and beautiful to watch.

The teaser is decent, nothing too amazing. It's definetly gonna be entertaining. I was hoping Mann would do another original piece like Heat. But this seems to have not much really to do with the TV series other then it takes place in Miami with charactors from the show. No Vice music or actors from the original TV series will be in it.

Any other huge Mann fans on RM?

If Mann is directing, sign me up. That gives this project actual credibility (because the idea of a Miami Vice movie sure doesn't).

there is only one tv show that i would ever pay to see be made into a movie, and thats speed racer and maybe battle of the planets

i personally think these tv shows made into movies, least to me, and allow me to stress that enough, to me, are dumb. i understand the shitload of money they bring in, but just the same, a big pile of steamy hot poo

Couldn't they have just hired Don Johnson and Whathisface to do this? Farrell and Foxx can't be better than them, even if they're geezers.

I agree, I hate how they exploit built in audiences with just about everything today. Original thought is rarely found in Hollywood anymore. So much easier to use something that's already been established as being something the people will come and see.

Michael Mann is the ONLY thing that will get me into the theater to see this. Mann could do a Small Wonder movie and I'd still be first in line.

movies like king kong and war of the worlds are a-ok in my book, cause SFX can bring a new dimension to them. war of the worlds, the sfx in it was down right scary looking, i have yet to see kong, though i vividly remember seeing the 78 version * i think it was 78, whenever the last one was, and from the previews of this one, i think itll be worth it, but shows such as

beverly hillbillys, the aadams family, dukes of hazzard, bewitched and now miami vice, i mean what can be new of these movies?

bo and luke butt fuck each other? play upon the homosexual undertones of crocket and tubbs? samantha uses her witching powers to make darrin have the girth of a keg?

I really think you are legally required to like Wrath of Khan. You can hate all the other ST movies if you want, but Khan is untouchable.

I've never seen one Star Trek movie EVER. I'm sure that's considered a crime against humanity to some on here. Same w/ never watching one episode of I Love Lucy.

So this opens tomorrow and there's no thread?

To be honest, I didn't have much of an interest in this at all, but one of my buddies really wants to see it and I may go check it out with him just to see. Anyone think it'll be worth a shit?

This movie actually looks like it might be good. It has been getting decent reviews.

Michael Mann deserves the benefit of the doubt. I'm pretty sure I'm going to see this.
