As far as the Holocaust thing goes, I'm not really sure what to think of it, but it hardly makes him 'insane.' Strong opinions tend to rub people a certain way, I suppose.

I somewhat agree. This is a misfortune that he brought upon himself. I don't like it when misfortunes happen to people (regardless if I like that person) that are nothing more than (pardon the pun) and act of God. For Mel, he made the decision to drink and drive, so it is more of a mistake that I hope he learns from, but I don't really feel sorry for him either.
