I think this could rightfully go inside News and Debate. I'd rather not have it clogged up by bad posts in the General Discussion area either. Okay here are a few of mine. I'll add more later:

Bob Dylan: singer, musician, poet, activist, lover, follower, leader
Image

Alan Watts: accredited for bringing Buddhism/eastern philosophy to the west in the 1950s and 1960s
Image

Leila Khaled: Palestinian freedom fighter who hijacked a few planes and had plastic surgery to avoid the authorities. Eventually reformed her beliefs on terrorism after spending time in a British jail.
Image

Jean-Luc Godard: more of my favorite director than a personal hero...but very groundbreaking and innovative during his early career.
Image

Thomas Pynchon: post-modern author
Image

Fred Hampton: black-panther

I feel sorry for people who don't think of their parents as heros.

On a serious side my heros are;
mom and dad
my son
Jesus
people who give to charity
people who volunteer their time
foster parents
Bob Marley

On a less serious side;
David Lee Roth
Bobby Orr
Jimmy Page and Led Zeppelin
The Who
U2
makers of Jack Daniels
person who invented kites

I don't idolize other people.

Phew. I thought you were going to say Jesus. And I was afraid that it meant that you thought Jesus was a guy with lily white skin, rosy red cheeks and pastel robes.

I knew that wasn't Jesus Christ. It couldn't be. I am prettier than this man.

Well, I did choose that picture of "Jesus" for it's absurdity value, as it went along with my point of worshipping a man as a god.

I could have used the "Semite Jesus" pic.

I never got that. I realize that you are most likely saying this more in jest than anything else, but whatever. For a musician not to be considered a 'corporate whore' or a 'sellout', people think that a musician has to be totally 100% out of the spotlight. Never try to convince people to buy your records or allow your songs to be on the radio. Never do anything but make records and play live shows. But you can't have too many fans, or to much money. If an author goes to a book signing, noone calls him a corporate whore. If a film director or an author goes on The Tonight Show, noone gets angry. But if a band plays on TV, they're automatically corporate whores and sellouts. Good music doesn't have to be obscure. Again, I realize that you were prolly saying what you said in jest, but this is N&D, so I'm allowed to make arguments like this.

Im not calling him a sellout- to me that is someone who changes his art to sell more. Pearl Jam has not done this.

Im refering more too his outspoken nature in ripping Multi Media Conglomerations...
and then doing an AOL Sessions
A Saturday Night Live- on NBC owned by GE

He complains about big companies, and how they hurt the little guy...
and then plays concerts at clear channel venues.
they play expensive shows at casinos- which prey on the poor

I personally have no problem with them doing those things... but i tend to lean right anyways... I just think it is coming off as very hypocritical.
