first off, you guys will LOVE watching little Ceasar Izturis play gold glove SS.
my question is just how washed up is ol' Greg Maddux? Cause the dude over 40 and judging by his stats, hes an absolute blow job this year. A shell of his HOF self.
so, is it because hes lost his stuff? or are the Cubbies so bad that it makes Maddux LOOK so awful? please tell me?

I think it's somewhere in between. He's not a #1 guy anymore, but he can still give you quality innings and some wins. He's lost some of his stuff, but his baseball intelligence will still make him very useful to the right team. Especially mentoring young pitchers.

Dont expect him to go more than 6 innings, no matter what. After struggling through the middle of the season he has had a strong last couple of starts. He is not dreadful, but he is not nearly as good as he used to be. That being said, i'm gonna miss watching him pitch

I've seen him in person the past 2 years about 10-15 times. I think you should expect a quality 3rd or 4th starter that will give you about 6 innings. Don't forget, he'll be pitching in Dodger Stadium, which is a lot more pitcher friendly than Wrigley in warm weather. There's a reason he was 5-0 in April with less than a 2.00 ERA (wing blowing in).
The most under-appreciated asset of the guy is what he does for other pitchers. He will spend a lot of time with them and teach them how to prepare for each game. You're getting more than a HOF pitcher -- you're getting a pitching coach.

Beware the big inning!
Maddux will do stuff like strike out the first two batters on 6 pitches and then give up back-to-back jacks. He'll throw 5 great innings and then get destroyed in inning #6. It's very frustrating, because he looks unhittable about 75% of the time, but that doesn't mean 3 out of 4 starts are awesome, it means 3 out of 4 innings are awesome.

He's one of the better #5 starters in the game right now. Don't expect him to be your #2 guy or anything.
