My vote goes to Travis Hafner. He's put up crazy numbers over the past 3 seasons with very little fanfare (except in his home city Cleveland where he is the beloved Pronk with a section now named for him).

Everybody has been saying he's under the radar since the All-Star break last year. I don't think it's true anymore.

i disagree.. he didnt make the allstar team this yr and think he was leading or in the top 3 in homers rbis and slugging at the break, still unknown if u ask me

Hafner didnt make the allstar team ONLY because there were 2 DH's on better teams having better years in bigger markets. Everyone knows who hafner is. Just because someone isnt on the Yankees or Red Sox doesnt mean they are automatically underrated.

Exactly...didn't make the All Star team this year with 3 chances: regular ballot vote (no), coach selection (no), 2nd chance fan's vote (no, and I think he finished 4th of the 5 players in that vote).

I always was a big fan of Wade Boggs, That guy was a hitting fool. I loved Wade Boggs.

and it was chase utley but he's now known. man he's got the most compact, quick swing i've ever seen.

Guillen was a good point also.. good hitter always solid. helped my teams out this in fantasy so far.

carl crawford is another guy who comes to mind,, he is known but is way better than advertised

Regular Ballot vote- wouldnt win it with Ortiz on it
Coachs vote- like Ozzie isnt going to pick his DH
2nd Chance vote- 2 electric young rookie pitchers on the ballot (possible ROY and CY Young Candidates)

Hafner is roundly considered to be the 3rd best DH in the game. He is in no way unsung.

This was my point. And in no fucking circumstance did he deserve a spot over either Thome or Papi.

Everybody knows Hafner, and they know he's got a really big bat.

Crawford is indeed a stud, a rare 5 tool player.

ok, so you don't like my Hafner pick...that's alright. The point of these threads is for lively discussion anyway so mission accomplished.

I do like Guillen but he really only had one stellar year in 2004 where he hit 20 HRs and had about 100 RBIs....other than that he's been pretty average and he's making $5 million per year so I wouldn't call that all that unsung either (Hafner is making less than $3 million).

Carl Crawford is a nice pick.

While this guy wasn't an unknown I still believe few grasped the numbers he put up for an entire career....

I saw Willie hit a near 500 ft home run in spring training against the Phillies about 10 years ago. It smashed the shit out of some car in the parking lot.
