Doesn't sound much like a Die Hard movie.

Merrick Says "Yippee Kai Yay!" To The DIE HARD 4.0 Script!!
Merrick here...
…with a look at DIE HARD 4.0.
Over the years, we’ve heard many rumors about this film: one said it would be set on a cruise ship, another indicated the plot would involve a space launch. There were once suggestions that a third sequel would take Bruce Willis’ John McClane character overseas; a forth piece of gossip indicated all of the good guys from the original DIE HARD film would return (Reginald VelJohnson, Bonnie Bedelia, etc.) There were so many possibilities it was difficult to know what to think…
But, it now seems that all parties concerned have closed-in on a concept that may finally make it to screen. Indications are DIE HARD 4.0 will roll as early as September, and Len Wiseman (the director of the two UNDERWORLD films) was recently selected to helm it. With all of this in mind, please know…
The key to a Die Hard movie is nailing the character of John McClane, the average Joe working-class cop who reluctantly takes on the larger, better organized, and more financed Bad Guy.
Die Hard: bank robbers/mercenaries, the LAPD, and the FBI
DH2: ex-military mercenaries
DHWAV veered from this somewhat, but the character of McClane as a beat cop against impossible odds was still there.
Anyways, this really sounds like it could work, but it could also be completely terrible. The John McClane character still sounds intact, but the key to this working is the casting on the son. Oh, and making everything somewhat plausible. Honestly, this sounds more like 24 territory than Die Hard. John McClane is just a better character than Jack Bauer.

It is easier for people to relate to McCalane than to Bauer, that's for sure. I enjoy the McClane character, although there have been an almost endless stream of action movies that have tried to mimic the average joe cop.

Yeah, and that's why 4 needs to bring something fresh to the table, or just leave well enough alone. Turning John McClane into a supercop/superhero/savior of the world ruins the character. I guess we'll see.

World-saving, not civil litigation, will be the focus in Live Free or Die Hard, the newly titled fourth installment in the Die Hard franchise. A June 29, 2007, release has been set, 20th Century Fox said Thursday.

And to think there were rumors of making Jessica Simpson McClane's daughter at one point...
After reading the script outline... it could work, but my only hesitation would be how vast of an "evil plan" it is. The first two were focused, the third... eh... I need to rewatch it, but 4.0 (is that official?) could get disjointed real quick. Anyways, Die Hard still holds a special place in my heart.
to this day, I can say "shoot the glass" in German.
Die Hard 3 was good IMO. Jeremy Irons was certainly a better villain than Mr. McDowell. I thought the second one sucked.
