i must say, and i´m sorry for saying this, but i think they are kinda dull, sometimes boring, i heard all their cd´s before i establishing my opinion, but i don´t think they´re that great, not that bad either, but i think they could have choosen a better band to suport them anyway.

I promise you that they're better live than Sonic Youth.

yeah i know i just talked to him on the phone and he hung up,.......no really, i really made an effort to hear mmj with many attention as i could before starting to say that i don´t like them, but i really don´t dig the music that much, maybe i´m being a dumbass but i just don´t like it, i mean some songs are cool, or at least start of being cool but then after a minute or so they become very boring, now after reading who the suportes for the european leg are, i think i will give them another chance to change my mind, maybe live i´ll have a different view.

having listened to Z i would agree but i imagine for some people that is cool to like them cos PJ like them. A similiar thing happened when Death Cab supported the band. Before that point 'they just played emo crap' then suddenly their popularity soared and threads about them multiplied.

no , for an example i never really liked dead cab, but i di understand people liking mmj, i´m not saying they really suck but to me their music is sometimes cool but most of the times boring, i don´t know if you agree but the guy up here really said something important, i think some people just like some of the opening acts because they were choosen by pj.

i hate most of the bands that open for pj. what i've heard of mmj is cool, but i havent heard much. they are better than sleater kinney though
the strokes will open for pj in 2007. they will be the best opening band ever

I don't think you have offended anyone. You have the right to your own opinion just like me. Wait until you see them live. I gained so much respect for them after seeing them.

yeah that´s exactly what i´m looking foward to, i´ll be at two shows this year and mmj will be the opnening act so i´ll be paying lot´s of attention to see what they can come up with, glad you talked about it, slaeter kinney to me are like sonic youth (not that they are similar) but i like to hear their studio albuns but live they aren´t that good, sleater kinney corin looks like she is going to blow up her vocal chords, can´t seem to forget when she and eddie sang hunger strike,my good the women just stayed there screaming as high as she could, ..........strokes,i must say i already liked them a lot before this recently (i think) connection to pj, i think that lyricly they´re not brilliant, but they have something really unique in their sound,a relly cool band to me,i hear them all the time

don't worry about offending people, i just type whatever i want and at the end of the day who cares what other people think, yur entitled to yur opinion.
as for the topic, i really didn't like the buzzcocks or sleater kinney, but i really liked mmj. its been a wierd trend, but i honestly was introduced to death cab by a friend, liked it for the most part, and then found out they were openning for pearl jam and wanted to see a show, but they weren't playing this coast together. then i think kings of leon entered my cd rotation and soon there after eddie starter talking them up and they played some shows together (i'm pretty sure). then earlier this year, somebody handed me Z and i liked most of it, and then i found out they were openning for PJ and after seeing them in boston, i like them more.

i still haven't heard mmj. there was a huge buzz about them in indie rock circles last year (they played the temple bar music centre here in dublin, capacity round 600) and everyone from kids in rock and indie clubs up to irish musicians were telling me this band are really the business. guess i'll find out this month.
as for old pj support bands, most of 'em are pretty different. jeff ament picked idlewild, ed picked the buzzcocks in 2003. jack irons told me back in la in 2003: jeff picks the 'musical' bands, and ed picks the 'punky' ones. so pj's previous supports (and whether you liked them or not) is in no way indicative of whether you'll like mmj.
