Anyone else live in a state that does this? All weekend there is no state sales tax on items that can be used for school. I'm getting me some new clothes and computer accessories.

Sales Tax-Free Holiday Under Way In N.C.
Tax-Free Weekend In Effect Until 11:59 P.M. Sunday

UPDATED: 8:31 am EDT August 4, 2006

RALEIGH, N.C. -- If you are looking for school supplies, computers or other items, North Carolina started its tax-free shopping holiday overnight and it will continue through the weekend.

Shoppers can select from a variety of computers, clothing, athletic apparel, sporting goods equipment and many back-to-school items and not pay local taxes.

Sales taxes won't be charged on clothes and footwear costing less than $100 per item. School supplies and related items such as calculators costing less than $100, sporting goods and recreation equipment costing less than $50 per item, athletic and non-athletic shoes costing less than $100, and computers along with monitor, mouse and speakers costing less than $3,500.

The sales tax holiday was first enacted in 2001. Many stores are also advertising sales in conjunction with the weekend. The tax-free weekend ends at 11:59 p.m. Sunday.

WV used to have this around this same time every year but our current Gov. did away with it.

He must have been the most popular governor ever. Please love the fuck out of this weekend. It's all anyone talks about for a month.

Probably because a higher value is placed on sports. Dumb. Not you, the policy.

He's still our gov and he actually is pretty popular. I don't like Manchin that much, but keep your eye on him, this guy could become another Clinton if he plays his cards right.
