What is it with all of these retarded new rules? Before long it's just going to be touch football.

Quote:
New rules for '06:

Kicking teams can no longer load up on one side of the ball in kickoff formations, making recovering an onside kick more difficult. The rule in place to avoid injury. The kicking team must have at least four players on each side of the kicker. The receiving team can still flood one side.

The horse-collar tackle penalty, made famous by Roy Williams' tackle on Terrell Owens in 2004, is expanded to include grabbing the inside collar of the jersey as well as the back of the shoulder pads.

The end-zone celebration rule now outlaws the use of the ball as a prop. Players can do as they please in the "team area," basically on the sidelines.

Officials have 60 seconds to review plays. The clock starts when the official looks at the monitor. They had 90 seconds last season.

Penalties will be assessed for in-your-face taunting.

"In your face taunting?" This shit is getting ridiculous.

Kellen Winslow Jr broke his leg on an onside kick but, if I remember correctly, it was just a freak thing not really as a result of the onside kick itself. Other than that I can't remember anyone else, this rule doesn't make sense to me.

The taunting rules aren't that surprising, but that onside kick rule is bullshit.

This has the potential to ruin the onside kick option as we know it. Unless they have the same rule for the defense, it gives the kicking team a enormous disadvantage. Stupid.

well it's been like that for a season or two now. but the officials don't enforce it as strongly as they should.

I thought the onside kick rule had already been in place or was it college.

Ha, lord knows they developed a nasty habit of blowing huge leads last season. At least they only got burned by it once. (Fuck you AGAIN, Amani Toomer! :gomez:)

No guys, we should outlaw tackling because it hurts the players.

Every game should end in a tie, because losing hurts the players mentally.

fo real. the only thing i can think of is the reverse type onside kicks where the kicker fakes to one side and either he or someone else kicks it to the side no one is on. but still, its just an uncalled for rule
