If I were ranking PJ's covers, I'd easily put this in the top 3. The awesomeness of this song is not discussed enough on this board, therefore I decided to make my first post about it.

In fact, without dispute, the top 3 best Pearl Jam covers are:

1. Fuckin Up
2. Sonic Reducer
3. Driven To Tears

Awhile back I was reading a post about songs that showcase the changes in Ed's voice over the years. This is a good one for that ... back in 92, it was all power ... it sounded insanely good. I just listened to my Salt Lake City 95 boot the other day, and you could hear how tore up his voice was on this song. It was all screaming and horse. The last time they played it was sometime in 2005, and it sounded totally different, less angry and more melodic.

Anyway ... Sonic Reducer just needs to get some love ...

I like the song, but I have trouble with Ed singing a song by a band that recorded a song titled "Caught With the Meat in Your Mouth."

Atlanta 94 is my favorite version of this song. Great cover. One of my favorites. Not top 3 though

Stip - no top 3 for Reducer? I'd be interested to hear yours.

Anyway, the Atlanta 94 show really is great ... that show has gotta be in my top 5 favorites. It really has it all ... great setlist, great recording etc.

Atlanta shows in general I find to be pretty awesome. I was at the Atlanta 2003 show and the last half of that concert starting with Glorified G is really f'n good. Some highlights included when they played crown of thorns, black, alive & porch back to back in the 1st encore ... and in porch they pulled these dudes dressed as bush, cheney and somebody else up on stage from the crowd, and they all held Ed up over their heads with Ed wailing out the end of the song.

I was going nuts ... my voice was horse for the next two days ...

I was there in 03 as well and of all the times that I have seen them live that was the strongest encore I. I wish the we come back to Atlanta. It does not make since, why they would skip Atlanta on the WWS tour.

1. Baba O Riley
2. RITFW
3. Probably let my love open the door, harvest moon, or ed doing patriot solo. I'd need to see a list. Masters of War is up there too. So I guess that would make sonic reducer number 7. The know your rights from uniondale may be my all time favorite particular cover though.

I'm a big fan of Sonic Reducer. I like it when they only do it a few times a tour however. Good cover. :D

I like the old school versions of this a lot. Mainly the X-Mas single. It just has the right enery.

My favorite covers though, not sure of exact dates but I have MP3s if that helps...

Let My Love Open the Door -- Sometime in '95
Trouble -- solo Eddie '98
I Got You -- '00
