It's entertaining for what it's worth. It's Michael Bay, so you have to accept the exploding cars doing triple somersaults, but it was a hell of a lot interesting than, say, Pearl Harbor.
I liked how they presented the world as being post-apocalyptic and under a totalitarian government, and then throwing that around.
I know Johansson's character was supposed to have the mental capabilities of a 15-year-old, but she overacted too much. I blame the director.
The product placement was horrible. Absolutely horrible.
But it was entertaining. It's Michael Bay, so I don't know if everyone was expecting Kurosawa, but it was entertaining.

I just watched "The Island" a week or so ago, and thought it was shite. Michael Bay is a hack, and this movie prooved it. Seems he just took some of the better action/sci-fi movies from the last 30 years, threw them in a blender, and pooped this turd out.
For a brief second I thought this was a political statement on how Michael Bay is against Stem Cell Research, then I came to my senses and realized sometimes a turd is just a turd...no reason to look deeper than that.

There's litigation out there due to the plot bearing an uncanny resemblence to a terrible film called Parts: The Clonus Horror. You may remember it from the 8th season of MST3K. It starred Peter Graves (of BIOGRAPHY!).
