It took some time, but it had just occurred to me after listening to the Buffalo bootleg that Free Jazz sounds like an evolved version of the small intro to Last Exit found on Vitalogy.

Jazz Jazz, experimental jazz!!! Isn't really experimental anymore is it?

They sort of did do that at the State College show where they partly played Free Jazz, paused, and went into Last Exit for the second encore.

Dillinger Escape Plan have complete songs that use the same "random" pattern as Free Jazz.

I want more free jazz!

Dance dance dance!

Repetitive repetitive repetitive!

I could seriously see Free Jazz go in a nice direction. So why I haven't I heard anyone else talk about the similarities of Free Jazz and Last Exit intro?

Was it deleted in the RM Postscour?

what is free jazz? i thought it was some crazy improv in PENN STATE 03 (although it sounded familiar). Ed says that it'll become the longest PJ song and they have to play jazz, and bu$hleaguer...

Free Jazz is just an officially named improv which is reminiscent to Last Exit's intro. It was played three times the whole tour I believe? And the unofficial fourth time during Encore Break #2 in Penn State.

It's not that crazy. Ed didn't say it'll be the longest PJ song. You're thinking of the part where Ed says he wants to make Penn State the longest show they'll ever play. They'll do 'Slow Jazz' or they might even have to break out 'Bu$hleaguer' (mind you, at the time, Bu$hleaguer got the out due to Uniondale's rude audience, so see Five Horizons for more details].

You haven't heard anybody talk about it, because everybody talked about it as it happened 1 1/2 years ago :)

So in answer to your question, it wasn't deleted during the RM "post scour", but wasn't even on this version of the board.

The term "free jazz" is for people who don't know their scales.

Free Jazz isn't even jazz. It's mindless noodling.
