Zak Penn Writing The Avengers Source: Marvel Entertainment August 10, 2006
The Marvel Studios Overview Presentation--other than giving a great look at how their films are made and what they have in the works--reveals that Zak Penn (The Incredible Hulk, X-Men: The Last Stand, X2: X-Men United) is writing the screenplay for the big screen adaptation of The Avengers.
Marvel describes the property as follows: "The Avengers are Earth's mightiest heroes, formed to fight the foes no single hero could withstand. The Avengers are the most prestigious and powerful super-hero team in the world."

I figured this one wouldn't come to be, since a lot of the Avengers were properties that are tied up at different studios.
If it has Captain America and Iron Man, it should be alright. I assume Iron Man and this Avengers movie are both being produced by Paramount (with whom Marvel has a 10-picture deal or somesuch), though I didn't see anything in the link saying so.
they should make a great lakes avengers flick. that, i'd see.

while the story is good in the main book, and they say you dont need the other tie-ins to know whats going on, it definately helps to have the other books.
for example, in CW #2, i believe stark visits emma, and when he leaves, they show bishop saying, iron man, we need to talk
spiderman unmasking is a ballsy move, one thats going to take years to put back in the bottle i would think

Wasn't sure where to put this, but its been reported that Edward Norton won't play the Hulk in this. Dunno if that was already common knowledge, but its out there.
LOS ANGELES – Ed Norton is speaking out on Facebook after Marvel Studios announced last week that the actor won't reprise his Hulk role in its forthcoming "Avengers" film.
Norton says he took to the social-networking site Monday because he felt it would be rude not to respond to an outpouring of support from fans.
Following Marvel president Kevin Feige's announcement Saturday that the studio would replace Norton with "an actor who embodies the creativity and collaborative spirit of our other talented cast members," Norton apologized to fans that "it won't work out" for him to play Bruce Banner again, adding he is proud of his work in the "Hulk" film and grateful to the studio for the opportunity to play the part.
Marvel had no comment Tuesday.

SAN DIEGO – Comic book fans no longer have to imagine what it might be like to see all their favorite superheroes in one place.
They got the chance Saturday at Comic-Con, when the cast of the forthcoming "Avengers" film took the stage. Samuel L. Jackson surprised some 6,000 fans gathered for a Marvel Studios presentation when he stepped out just as it was ending and started introducing the cast of "The Avengers."
Jackson brought out stars Clark Gregg, Scarlett Johannson, Chris Hemsworth of "Thor" and Chris Evans of "Captain America."
He then introduced another surprise guest, Robert Downey Jr., who brought out the rest of the all-star cast, including Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner.
"The Avengers" is based on the comic book series of the same name, which brings various Marvel superheroes together. The film is due in 2012.

Fuck Mark Ruffalo
All I can think of when I look at him is some retarded movie my girl took me to, where he falls in love with Jennifer Love Hewitt, only she's a ghost or some shit.
He's a pretty mild mannered guy though, I can see him doing Banner. It would be nice if they could stick with ONE guy to play the role
