Twisted metal fixtures and blaring techno music set the stage for eclectic late-night dining at the new 4 Taste, 100 E. Walton. It's the second outpost of the popular small-plates restaurant, which opened six years ago at 415 N. Milwaukee. The Gold Coast location offers the same indulgent hot and cold appetizers meant for sharing; they're all $10.95, including such quirky offerings as buffalo carpaccio, and are served until 2 a.m. on weekdays and 3 a.m. on Saturdays.

An opulent decor scheme includes gild-edged mirrors and red-hued walls. DJ-driven dance music is meant to evoke what international partygoers hear in Ibiza and Mykonos.

"Even how their bar is done is so interesting," says guest Jayme Forker, who visited the restaurant Friday night. "This is not your general wooden Chicago bar."


PARTY WATCHING


Chicago Bears Thomas Jones and Adewale Ogunleye host a joint "Miami Style" birthday bash at Victor Hotel Friday night. The event benefits the Chicago Public School's Back to School initiative. 311 N. Sangamon, 10:30 p.m., $50. (312) 733-6900.

Local shooter Tyler Curtis takes arty pictures that appear on Chicago-Scene.com, but he's equally well known for his signature electric blue eye makeup.

At the opening reception for the "Elevate Imagination" exhibit at Up Gallery, 1501 N. Sedgwick, his photos were selected to appear alongside work by artists Elizabeth Schwartz, Lucca Emanuel and photographer Joe Wallace. The show was curated by Elite model (and gallery director) Kristen Grzemski.

The gallery space adjoins Heat, a restaurant that serves fresh-kill sushi from giant fish tanks.

About 75 guests attended, including Emanuel's fiancee, Beth Liebling (ex-wife of Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder); Preast (whose real name is Trevell Ruffer) from Chicago-based hip-hop band Qualo, and clothing designer Michelle Tan.
