Beautiful, I especially like how you kept the mirror in each picture. It added a feeling of reflection and a strong since of movement.

awwww. You don't like the rainbow?

The first picture I took as soon as I had gotten back from Djibouti. I was...well...kinda down at that point. I felt back then that the picture was a great summation of my position in life. I was driving down this bleak, desolate road where nothing lived, and behind me this beautiful sun was setting and I could only see it through the rearviewmirror.

The second picture I took from my last trip from home to Rochester when I started the deployment. Another sun was setting behind me, and there may have been storm clouds on the horizon, but there's life there. And a rainbow through it all too. This time I had something to drive towards...I wasn't driving away from it.

Both pictures to me are extremely symbolic on a multitude of levels.

Just the very thought these pictures could possibly present themselves in either form is kind of staggering to me. But to have the sun, right in the rearviewmirror in the first, and the rainbow just happen to position itself right next to that tree... I couldn't believe it as I was driving down the road. And to get the shot...

Is it more blah? Yeah. But the entire concept as a whole I really find interesting to think about.

I gotta tell ya, when i first looked at that first picture, I thought that was a nuclear explosion in the rear view mirror.

I was like whoa...that's deep.

Now i feel like a retard.
