Lupica sucks. he's completely out of touch.

Buster and Verducci are very good.

King has become too full of himself.

many writers are guilty of this...but I can deal with it if they're still putting out good stuff. I am convinced that most people in the RM sports forum know more about football than Peter King. He literally knows nothing about the technical aspects of the game....and cannot analyze a game or matchup to save is life. If you want human interest puff pieces about the time Brett Favre shot a deer, then he's your man. Give me someone who's breaking down tape and actually watching games instead.....

I only read Cleveland guys and the only ones worth mentioning are Terry Pluto and the late Hal Lebovitz.

Reilly is very good, but not clearly the best.

Brad Darrach wrote a great piece on Bobby Fischer, who himself is an interesting character

yeah, reading about Jeter's fan mail is truely groundbreaking sports journalism.

I agree Lupica sucks NOW, and he is out of touch, but he was in his prime in the 90's and his columns, mosty the knicks stuff, made me want to do what he did.

and Mitch Lawrence is garbage, he could write an article about a forest fire in Mongolia and still manage to make it known how much he hates the Knicks and how much he thinks they suck.

I agree with you on Lupica...he used to be better. Is it me, or does he end every Sunday column with "I love you dad" or "happy birthday mom"?

Some local guys for me, Bill Conlin for baseball, Ray Didinger for football (retired) and Bill Lyon as a Columnist.

Nationally I have always liked Rick Riley, Buster Olney is great, Bill Simmons has always been one of my favorites simply because I relate to him and like his writing style.

Here's a link to a Conlin article that was particularly good a few weeks ago. Shows how good he is given that he's been mailing it in over the last 5 or so years.
