With the college football season now in full swing, I think we need to have some sympathy for those of us who go to a school where the football program is, how do you say...subpar.
So please, share with us the sports you don't completely suck nuts at right now so that we may feel better about ourselves.
Every sport except football and basketball, although both of those are really coming around for Baylor right now. We're gonna stomp the shit outta TCU tomorrow.

I disagree with that notion. Being a powerhouse in IAA means you have high school all-staters and all-americans getting free rides at just about every position and you play games in front of 15,000 for most big games. NOT BAD. Enjoy that, I know I have enjoyed that living 40 miles from Youngstown State. My question has always been....would you rather be a bad program that goes 2-9 in 1A and be completely insignificant or be 14-2 and play until mid-December in front of electric playoff crowds in 1AA?? My answer has always been the latter.

The potential for turn-around in said I-A programs alone makes the higher distinction worth it. I speak from experience.

My college (Lafayette) is the smallest school in D-1, so they pretty much suck at everything.
The basketball team has made it to the NCAA tournament a couple times in recent years, by virtue of winning the mighty Patriot League.
And I under stand that a couple of the women's teams are pretty good. I think the lacrosse team was a national championship contender if not winner a couple of years ago.

well, while i was there '94-'99, SIU wasn't too great a football team... really started to roll about 5 years ago... when i was there 10,000 students showed up for the tailgate, whereas about 1,000 actually made it into the game
and it's not like they televise their games in NC, so i really don't much care what they do... i like reading about them doing well in the paper, but in regards to being a part of it, well, i'm really not, and have never been
i did get to see Troy Aikman on campus when he came to workout with one of our TE's (in prep for the draft)

I'm not sure if you're kidding or not, so I'll just go on with what I'm about to say as if you weren't.
Do you know anything about the Baylor program? I mean, they're not top tier or anything, but taking Oklahoma to double OT last year and taking Iowa State on the road is enough affirmation for me that we're on the right track. You don't turn a program from nothing into a top school in a couple seasons. We lost to TCU 17-7 tonight, sure, but that game would not have been anywhere close two years ago... not to mention, just like Tech last year, we dominated them for basically the whole game before the second half collapse. I'll give the new spread offense more than one game experience before I deem it a total failure, y'know.
