so I have some fully downloaded files I had to move from one folder to another. I kept the same download name as the torrent. Then when I clicked on the torrent link again so I could start uploading my finished files they started downloading again. What am I doing wrong?

Let me see if I can help, Stip, as I've had this same problem.

Let's say I want to resume uploading the directory BAM (files in a folder named BAM), and that folder is located in My Documents.

When I first started downloading this directory, when prompted for where I'd like the download to go, I'd select My Documents, and the BAM folder w/ its contents would be placed in My Documents.

However, say later I delete the torrent after downloading but then want to become a seed again. When reloading the torrent I have to make a small adjustment:

Instead of selecting My Documents again as the target, I have to go one folder deeper in the directory and select the BAM folder as the target. At that point, your torrent program should verify its contents and activate you as a seed.

Hi All

So oink downloads fine for me (very quick--about 350 kbs if there are a lot of seeds available) but my upload speed never seems to top 40 kbs. What's more, it often fails to upload entirely. Right now I am seeding a show (with 36 other people seeding) that have 10 people downloading it and yet I have no connection with them. This will happen for 3-4 shows at a time sometimes.

does anyone know what is going on, and how I can fix that. Basically how do I make sure I enter a torrent swarm?

thanks :)

I have the same problem. It fucking pisses me off. Only happens there too. Other sites I do fine.

I think it's because of the ratio requirements there that everyone leaves their torrents open when they are seeding to try to reach 1:1, and so there is actually crazy competition to seed. They ought to just dump the requirements at this point.

*edit* Actually, stip, 40kbps upload is a pretty decent speed. My cable provider caps my upload speed at around 60, and I think a lot of providers do. I was talking about those times that you're trying to seed and can't even connect with motherfuckers.

I believe so.

PD--the problem is less the speed (although it would be nicer if that was higher) and more the failure to connect.

It's not just the PJ boots though. It's the boots that have me worried about the ratio, but this happens to me all the time on oink with other files too.

I have a hard time keeping up a .5 ratio around there. I'm at .557 right now, and quite happy about it. I have like 1.75 at dime.

I'm over 1, but mostly because people downloaded the woods from me a million times.

Take a look at yourself in the peers section of the torrent page. It will tell you whether you are clever (properly forwarded) or not. The port range is not specified on Oinks end, but on yours. So as long as you have chosen a range that isn't in use by another program, and not the default range (6881-6889) you should be fine.

As for your upload speeds, they sound normal. My ISP has a cap at around 60k as well, and i think most are the same.

I'm clever.

(some RMers I've seen there aren't :P )

i was having this same problem... i would work so hard (and by work hard, i mean i would leave things seeding for a long time) to get my ratio to 1.0 or better, and then i would download something new, and once im done, i wouldnt be able to connect to any of the remaining leechers (even though i was clever) and that would just kill my ratio again...
i havent really been able to solve the issue, i find it very difficult to get a 1.0 ratio on something i've downloaded off the site (unless you jump on it right off the bat, and still that doesnt always work), so to compensate, just upload your own stuff... and lots of it... thats how i got my ratio to 1.5

I just started with this beautiful site and I cannot get a port to open to seed. I am using utorrent. I checked out the tutorial with Westell and when I enter my user name/password it does not allow me to log on to reconfigure my settings. I really want to be a good oink participant and would hate to get banned, so any help would be great!! Thanks!!
