Sep 3 Chicago Cubs C Michael Barrett (groin) could miss the remainder of the season, after having been hit in the groin with a foul tip, according to the Associated Press. He was placed on the 15-day disabled list, and in a best-case scenario, could miss between two and three weeks. Barrett was scheduled to be released from Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Sunday, Sept. 3, after having undergone surgery. The injury occured during the top of the fifth inning, Saturday, Sept. 2, when San Francisco Giants SP Matt Cain fouled a ball off. However, Barrett didn't leave the game until after his at-bat in the bottom of the inning. Barrett went to the emergency room, and an ultrasound showed bleeding inside his scrotum. Surgery took less than an hour, according to trainer Mark O'Neal.

definitely a nominee, not a winner.
What's worse than a bleeding scrotum?
Cancer
Slipping in Magic Johnson's blood on the basketball court, trying to brace your fall with your hand which you just cut open on the rim when you missed a slam dunk.
I wonder what the standard procedure is in the locker room when you return from an injury like this. Do you make fun of the guy mercilessly for having had his ball crushed or is it one of those "don't talk about it things" like when a pitcher is throwing a no-hitter? Or does everyone come up to him and say a few quiet words as if his father has just passed away? I'm curious.

"Hey man, I heard about your engorged scrotum. I'm so sorry. I'm praying for you and your family."
*Pats him on the shoulder*

PITTSBURGH -- A T-ball coach accused of offering an 8-year-old boy $25 to bean a disabled teammate is unlikely to receive a fair trial because of intense media coverage, the man's lawyer said.
Mark R. Downs Jr., 29, of Dunbar, was scheduled to go on trial Tuesday in Fayette County on a string of charges, including solicitation, corruption of minors and reckless endangerment. He refused a plea agreement in December.

Hey, at least his scrotum isn't bleeding.
