I'll trust the many people who actually came in contact with him as how good of a person he was.

Do you want to enlighten us with more details? I'd be interested to hear. I've only heard positive things about Reggie. He came to my high school a couple years after I graduated and gave a speech before the Homecoming football game. My dad was the principal of the high school so he met him and talked to him and said he was a great guy.

Keeping it to the playing field I think Reggie was the greatest defensive player to ever play the game.

Mitchell may very well be a jackass but he does have a valid point about Reggie not being the saint everyone makes him out to be. Did you forget about how his speech a couple of years ago when he ripped on gays and Hispanics?

The link below has the speech.

http://my.execpc.com/~dross/aw/regwhite.html

Reggie White wrote:
Let me explain something when I'm talking about sin, and I'm talking about all sin. One of the biggest ones that has been talked about that has really become a debate in America is homosexuality.
Now, I believe that one of the reasons that Jesus was accused of being a homosexual is because he spent time with homosexuals. I've often had people ask me, would you allow a homosexual to be your friend. Yes, I will. And the reason I will is because I know that that person has problems, and if I can minister to those problems, I will.
But the Bible strictly speaks against it, and because the Bible speaks against it, we allow rampant sin including homosexuality and lying, and to me lying is just as bad as homosexuality, we've allowed this sin to run rampant in our nation, and because it has run rampant in our nation, our nation is in the condition it is today.
Sometimes when people talk about this sin they've been accused of being racist. I'm offended that homosexuals will say that homosexuals deserve rights. Any man in America deserves rights, but homosexuals are trying to compare their plight with the plight of black men or black people.
In the process of history, homosexuals have never been castrated, millions of them never died. Homosexuality is a decision. It's not a race.

Well yeah that's my point. You can only bring up one thing this guy did wrong through out his public life. I don't think you can judge him on that one speech. That one speech doesn't erase all the good he has done.

Even if you gay it shouldn't matter. Everyone who came into contact with him has nothing but great words to say about him, Everyone makes mistakes and I believe he even apologized for it.

It's embarrasing hearing all the jackasses on ESPN imitating White's voice. Thats exactly what people feel like hearinf, Reggie White imitations.
