I like what I'm seeing from the Bills' defense. Lots of speed, and they've been punching through to the backfield, something they really struggled with last year.
Run D's gonna be a problem, as is the offensive line.

How much are the young guys playing? They drafted some nice rookies.
I figured the defense would turn around quickly--but what about the O?
It's going to take a season or two to fix the mess Donahoe left, specifically with the O-line. Levy and Jauron have gotten rid a lot of the bad attitudes that divided the locker room the past few seasons (Moulds, Mike Williams and Sam Adams, in particular). Jason Peters is a guy they've been really high on the past two seasons. He started out as a special teamer/tight end, and is now playing right tackle. They tried to get him over at LT, but he was a bit too shaky.
The center we drafted, Duke Preston, looked real good in the limited time he got last year, but was real shaky during this preseason. The great thing about having Marv Levy as GM is that you know he's going to focus on fixing the O-line, so I think the future's going to be pretty good for Buffalo. They're putting together a good core they can build around. I think their overall success is going to hinge on Losman's development (or lack thereof).
I'm real anxious to see how Jauron does on game days. I'm not at all confident the Bills can win today, because Belichick's great at making halftime adjustments. Having two braindead fools as head coaches the past few seasons has made me cynical.

Oh, and we need a new cornerback to replace Terrence McGee (especially since this is Nate Clements' final year as a Bill). He's great as a KR, but he's way too inconsistent in coverage.

The guy sitting at the table next to me at BWW had about 15 beers and even HE knew it was 4th and 1...and you're telling me a guy PLAYING in the goddamned game didn't? I swear to God, Willis McGahee makes your average deer look like Albert fucking Einstein.

Not a surprise to me. That's what you get with Willis. He could give two shits about the team. All he cares about is playing well and getting his stats. Which is good and bad, in its own way.

he is so lovable and hateable that mcgahee fellow. it's maddening. i think we all agree he has that form that we saw in the year that he made henry leave town. we want taht back. and this is a contract year for him. and he's not even the RB our coaching staff wants. so he has somethign to prove. i think he'll come around.

BOOYA!
Anyway, so who's your pick to start? Losman or Holcomb? I'd go with the vet. Not that it will matter. Watch out for Lee Evans though.
I start Losman (which they did). You've got to see what you've got in him and find out if he can carry the team. Holcomb is a great backup, but he's been around a while and rarely started even playing behind Couch in Cleveland.
Now if the Bills went out and got someone like Patrick Ramsey like the Jets did, then I might be inclined to move Losman back.

Troy Vincent is out for the year folks.

Bills' Vincent placed on IR; LB Spikes ailing NFL.com wire reports
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (Sept. 13, 2006) -- The Buffalo Bills placed veteran free safety Troy Vincent on injured reserve with a hamstring injury, ending his season.
Linebacker Takeo Spikes missed practice because of a hamstring injury.
Spikes and Vincent were hurt in the first quarter of Buffalo's season-opening 19-17 loss at New England on Sept. 10.
The 35-year-old Vincent, a 15-year NFL veteran, aggravated a left hamstring pull that he had in training camp. He confirmed the injury will end his season but no other details were immediately available.
Spikes referred to his injury as a "mild" pull of the right hamstring, but it's uncertain whether the Bills would want the two-time Pro Bowl performer to test his leg and risk aggravating it further in a Sept. 17 game at Miami.
Spikes, who forced a Tom Brady fumble that was returned for a Buffalo touchdown on the game's first play from scrimmage, was hurt during the second series. Spikes was playing his first regular-season game since tearing his right Achilles' tendon in Week 3 of last season.
Vincent also was hurt during the second series, feeling a twinge after tackling running back Laurence Maroney. Vincent, who is president of the NFL Players Association, had been looking forward to playing this weekend, which would have marked his 200th career game and come against his former team, the team that selected him in the first round of the 1992 NFL Draft.
Rookie fourth-round pick Ko Simpson, who registered seven tackles filling in for Vincent against the Patriots, likely will get his first career start.
If Spikes is out, Angelo Crowell would switch from the weak to the strong side. Josh Stamer and rookie Keith Ellison would then split duties on the weak side.
Bummer.
