This was one of the best Broadway shows I've seen, but I rarely enjoy musicals on film.

The original with Ricki Lake was amusing in it's absurdity. I liked when they met the beatnick who ironed her hair man.
And I had no idea the mother was a man.

This movie is a shoe in for a set design or costume Oscar. It looked amazing. Acting ... meh, it's a musical. What do you want? My wife enjoyed it.

I hated the original movie, I loved the Broadway show & I *liked* this movie.

John Waters as a whole just doesn't do it for me but the B'way show was a blast.
