I read top 25 grossing tours, and thought, whose on there , Metallica, Aerosmith, Nickulback. ? But I was thinking gross and in crumby - like. Now I understand.

Interesting thing to note:
The album and singles charts for several years have been dominated by hip/hop and R&B. In the last year the top ten billboard albums have typically been 70% hip/hop and R&B. Yet, there is ONE hip/hop/R&B artist in the top 25 grossing tours. Usher.

That's because hip hop tours are always cut short by arrests, violence at the shows, or the artists cancelling the tour for one reason or another.
Many venues won't even allow hip hop tours because the insurance is too high.

Maybe the majority of Hip Hop and R&B record buyers are young and don't have the dough or means to see live shows?
I'd also suggest that acts like Celine Dion, Madonna, Bette Midler, Elton John and Cher are more likely to charge completely unreasonable amounts for tickets and that their fans are more likely to overlook that and pay for them.
Elton John's probably the only show on there worth a damn.
Except for Buffet he's the only one I saw on that list. His shows at Radio City w/the orchestra and choir were among the best performances I've seen in my 25 plus years of concert going.

Pixies only charged about $50 for their tickets and they played smaller venues. Prince tickets were like $60 and he played massive shows at the Garden and whatnot, multiple nights too.

You can't judge that show by the Bravo broadcast. I wasn't impressed with it either, which for me was a major disappointment. The songs were out of order, the ads were super annoying, many of the best and rarest songs were omitted, and there's evidently no way to replicate the intoxicating sound that Radio City Music Hall produces. That said, you must've stopped watching before they did Madman Across the Water which was sick as shit. Anyway, just one concert goer's opinion.
