So, I've been doing Weight Watchers for about 3 weeks, and I've lost 15 pounds. Anyone else do Weight Watchers? How does it (did it) work out for you?

EDIT:
---------- COMMONLY ASKED FOR ----------------------

Points Formula:
knuckles of frisco wrote:
calories/50 - fiber grams (max. 4)/5 + fat grams/12 = points

Daily Points Totals:
B wrote:
Here's how you get your daily points total:

1. Female +2
Male +8

2. 18-26 +4
27-37 +3
38-47 +2
48-58 +1

3. What do you weigh. Add on the first 2 digits of your weight in pounds. For example, if you weigh 175, enter 17. If you weigh less than 100 pounds, enter the first digit of your weight in pounds, ie for 98, enter 9.

4. Under 5'1" +0
5'1" to 5'10" +1
Over 5'10" +2

5. Do you spend most of your day:
Sitting down? (receptionist, bus driver, etc) +0
Occasionally sitting, but mainly standing? (sales person, housewife, teacher, etc) +2
Walking most of the time? (waiter, mailman) +4
Doing physically hard work most of the time? (nurse, gardener, construction) +6

That'll give you your total daily points, and then you get 35 points to spend throughout the week any way you'd like.

Good Health Guidelines:
B wrote:
6 8oz glasses of water per day
5 fruits or veggies per day
2 servings of dairy per day
2 teaspoons of healthy oil per day (fish, nut, seed, or vegetable)
1 multivitamin/mineral supplement per day
whole wheat whenever possible
1-2 servings of protein
limit alcohol and sugar

My best friend from high school had great success with it. Lost about 30 or 40 pounds over a few months. He was very happy with teh results.

I did it before my wedding in July. Super easy. I went from 195 to 175 in a couple of months and I've been able to stay in the low 170 range for the last few months. :D

I started out at 285. I just wanted to lose 50 pounds, but the Weight Watchers ultimate goal for me is 147. I can't imagine that I would look healthy at 147. When I was in high school on the swim team, I weighed 170.

I supposed I'll just shoot for my 50, and then talk to my doctor.

It's all about height. I'm only 5-8, so I'm sure you are taller than me and you'll be fine. Good luck! My biggest secret: I switched from regular to diet soda and I instantly dropped 10 pounds.

 great tip on the diet soda... same for me (maybe it was 5 pounds but it only took about a weekend)

one other small tip - mix in 30 mins of exercise 3x per week and it will do a world of good and help w/the weight loss. walking, jogging, lifting - whatever you can do. doesn't have to be formal, just get your muscles moving.

My Dr. told me I'd have to gain 10 pounds to register on her BMI chart. Will they watch that, too???

is this the one where you can eat candy bars and shit because they are a certain number of points?

So one candy bar would be like 88 points?

Do the online version, very simple and there are good deals there now.

Basically, you can eat what you want, but all in moderation.

Also, the frozen meals are nice and satisfying. :D

How many points do you get a day? And how many points for one beer? I'm talking good beer here too, not some shitty light beer.

I think that's one of my biggest problems. I really, really like beer and I'm betting that there's not enough points a day to let me enjoy a couple beers now and then. I guess if I give up food I'll have enough points for a few beers and then have the added benifit of being plastered off a few beers cause I haven't eaten anything. That could be fun.

if you don't already, start drinking guiness... not only is it one of the best beers ever but despite it's heavy apperance it is actually lower in calories compared to other beers. comperable with some light beers i believe.

however, it's still about 100 calories, so if you start to hit double digits then you're in trouble...

Ya. Guiness is good stuff and I do know that it's quite a "light" beer. I do drink it often but I like a lot of different kinds of beers as well.

As for double digits, well that very rarely occurs these days. Though this weekend might be a bit rough with a big party tonight and the Chili's concert tomorrow night. Mostly though I have no trouble cutting beers and alcohol to 2 or 3 total during the week and on weekends I'll have maybe 2-4 per night. Occasionally a big event will come along though and I'll more than likely have more than my fair share, I think this weekend might be one of those times.

Anyway, I'm really kinda interested if it's possible to do Weight Watchers without totally cutting out beer. My wife has been doing it, before becoming pregnent, and she's had great results. But she's no beer drinker so...

Wow, that's just taunting! Do you like to stand outside weight loss centers and eat ice cream too?

Haha, naw, I'm not evil.
Just treating myself to a Friday morning caffine/sugar fix after a really crappy night's sleep. Lunch time's back to the good stuff - chicken noodle soup and a fruit cup. LOL.

One light beer is two points and I think a regular is three.
Depending on weight you get about 20-24 points per day.
One shot is two points, so is a glass of wine from what I remember
