There's always a lot of talk about the different "seasons" of movies, such as summer blockbuster season, Oscar season, etc and the types of movies the studios try to put out during these respective time periods. However, while there might be a lot of big budget action movies in the summer and more dramatic and serious fare in the winter, I'm not sure I really buy into this. The fall season is always touted as when Hollywood stops churning out mindless summer fare, but so far I think this fall is shaping up to be pretty weak, with even fewer movies that I'm excited about than even the summer had. What do you think? Truth or hooey? Or what time of year do you find yourself going to the movies more often?

What does it matter? They're all pretty much a slew of mediocrity mixed in with a few odd gems here and there.
I guess I was thinking about the stereotype of how the summer is all mindless crap, but I was way more excited about going to the movies over the past couple of summers than I have been in the fall or winter, and most of the stuff I saw wasn't of the big blockbuster variety. I'm going with "myth" on this myself, but I wondered what everyone else thought.

I think summer is SLIGHTLY geared toward blockbusters, at least moreso than other seasons. There's really not much of a difference, though.
