Why is Troy Glaus getting 45 mil? Russ Ortiz breaking the bank? Oh how the MLB needs a salary cap...

Why does there need to be a rule to tell billionaires how to control themselves? There is a such thing as not paying a guy with a career record under .500 what fair market value is for a pitcher of that caliber. If the Mets and Diamondbacks want to break the bank for bullshit, they'll reap what they sow.

A salary cap didn't stop the Forty Niners from signing a bunch of stupid contracts.

If the Mets want to continue to agree to insane contracts and the D-Backs want to go further into debt I'm fine with that. I'll take Tim Hudson at 6.5 over paying Pedro 14 million in 2007.

Have the Yankees won a championship lately? Hrmmm.
He can sign a team that trumps the one Montgomery Burns had, but it won't matter. They won't win 130 games or be guaranteed a championship. Salary caps are bad.

Being a mets fan, yes u guys can do this to me :poke: , The mets feel into a rut after the kazmir trade was a public relations disaster. They had to pay benson whatever he wanted because if they lost benson and with zambrano already hurt. They would have been crucified by the New York media. Do I agree with it, by no means, the only upside of benson pitching in NY is that his wife is fucking hot

Yeah, but Omar didn't make those moves.....so he really shouldn't have felt any pressure (unless it was from the Wilpons) to overpay to keep Benson.......

I guess Omar doesn't really have "full autonomy" to make moves that was discussed at the press conference when he was introduced as GM.

she said publicly that she would lay down every met that was available if her hubby ever cheated on her......I can understand the anger involved if that were to happen but saying that to the papers was a bit much...

The salary cap doesn't seem to be bad for the NFL.

Probably....doesn't change the fact that she is an annoying, attention craving cunt

I'd disagree.

I, for one, happen to prefer the pre-cap NFL.

I don't like the way it kills any possiblity of a trade.
I don't like the way it's a bullshit cap (see SF 49ers).
I don't like the way it allows for long, non-guaranteed contracts.
I don't like how contracts have come to be about massive bonuses.
I don't like how people assume it's the reason for the "balance" in the league, especially with the way revenue is shared in the NFL as opposed to other sports.

other reasons:
-teams are punished for drafting well (cap prevents keeping all your stars)
-veterans are often unable to finish careers with original teams
-because of huge roster turnover every year, quality of play has dimished (tackling is atrocious in this league compared to 15-20 years ago)
