Luckily for me I have a job that allows me to listen to the radio all day, so I get to catch most of the NPR programming throughout the day. My favorite would probably have to be Talk of the Nation, although The Diane Rehm show would be a close second, and Fresh Air is a close third. I don't get to listen to the weekend programming as much as I'd like to, but I do download the Wait Wait, Don't tell me Podcast every weekend, if only Car Talk did a free podcast
Morning Edition (on the way to work.)
Talk Of The Nation (on the way back.)
The World (that's what it's called right?) (whenever i have the radio on during the day.)

Fresh Air is fantastic. The best interviews with the most interesting people in the arts. A lot of people will do an hour with Terry Gross who would never sit for anyone else.
Talk of the Nation is usually pretty solid and I listen most days over my lunch hour. There is a show called Day to Day that I used to get in Milwaukee that is similar to All Things Considered, but with some more interesting extended interviews.
BTW, I HATE the Diane Rehm show. I fucking HATE it. I never heard it before I moved to Phoenix, but if I want to listen to an old lady whine at 2 mph, I'll go hang out with my grandmother's friends at the nursing home. She gets decent guests but I can't stand the sound of her voice.

Diane Rehm isn't actually an old woman, she just has a voice problem. Her show can be a little slow-paced sometimes, but she is an excellent mediator and really draws the best out of a debate.

In 1998, her career nearly came to a halt because of a mysterious speech problem. She took a leave of absence from the show and saw specialist after specialist until, finally, she was diagnosed and treated for spasmodic dysphonia, a neurological disorder.
We get Day to Day out here, it's on between Fresh Air and ToTN, but I don't catch it a lot of the time because I tend to eat lunch at that time.

oh shit i meant "All Things Considered" on the way back. i love the host's of that show, Siegel, Block and Norris.
i can't get the radio at home to work, and my old ass computer can't handle the webcast it'd be kinda weird to stay in my car just listening to the program. i like it a lot though, i used to listen to it A LOT earlier this year when i had to work late.

This American Life
Car Talk
(Both of which should have free podcasts! You suck NPR!)
The Story (is that national? it's really fucking good.)
EDIT: Looks like it's not: http://thestory.org/
I'm not a fan of Diane Rheam, but I REALLY hate Prairie Home Companion. Everyone likes that show, and whenever I hear it, I want to dig my lungs out with a spoon!

Isn't This American Life with Irah Glass? If so, then that's my favorite. I like Fresh Air because Terry's a damn good interviewer. Second favorite. And Prairie Home Companion is good. Third favorite.

I've actually never really listened NPR before, but one the English text books we have is from 10 year old NPR stories. I really enjoy them. I wouldn't mind some updated ones. Can we listen online?

My favorite is A Prairie Home Companion by far.
Diane Rehm's voice is how it is due to her developing spasmodic dysphonia in 1998.
Well that makes me sad, but I still can't stand to hear her voice. It's like Carl Castle reading the news in the morning and there's that strange clicking sound in his speech like he's got a quarter in his mouth or something. I'm all for equal employment opportunities for the disabled and stuff, but voice problems on the radio?
Anyway, I had forgotten about This American Life. That's probably the best radio program around. Nothing else is really like it at all.
There's also a show called "On Point with Tom Ashbrook" that is a very good political talk show. It's better when the guests are liberals or moderates though because Tom has a bit of difficulty disguising his disdain for conservatives.

World Cafe. A station here used to have it but they stopped broadcasting it. They play a lot of cool music.
I hate cars, but for some reason, I just really like Car Talk. I don't listen to the radio much, but when I do, NPR is basically the only thing worth listening to.
