This tune did nothing except provide me a source of stress that they had fired Dave A...
In retrospect it was the right decision obviously for the overall health of the band, but I remember listening to this looking at the liner notes and thinking..."What they HELL are they doing??"

The biggest shame about including this on Vitalogy isn't that it's some 7 or 8 minutes of unnerving dialogue, but the fact that the album could've had a very strong closer.

Speaking of this quote - Is the Lycos chat transcript still available anywhere online? I remember staying up until the small hours of the morning to watch that. I think this and the Yellow Ledbetter explanation were the only interesting things to come out of it.

The first time I actually listened to this song was late at night, driving down a little county road way out in West Texas. One of those spots where there are hardly any lights around and you can see the night sky perfectly. No cell phone reception, either. If you're car breaks down out there you're definitely fucked.
Anyways, it was creepy as all hell.
