OU sucks.
And the first BCS poll doesn't mean anything. If OU goes undefeated and maybe actually wins the Big 12 Championship this year, they'll play in the Orange Bowl.

Neither of which will actually happen
So who's stopping OU? They've already played the tough part of their schedule.

I find it hard to believe (and ironic) that a fan of OU would find fault with the BCS rankings and complain about getting screwed after the debacle last year where a once-thrashed OU team got to play for the national championship. I seem to remember an awful lot of OU fans defending the system at that time. I guess what goes around comes around.
With that said, I don't see a challenge for the rest of the year for OU outside of the Big 12 Championship.

I don't see a challenge there either. The Big 12 North sucks this year.

I have a couple of opinions on this issue.. First of all there should definetly be a playoff.. At least the top 4 teams battle it out on the field. As for last year it was all screwed up but remember all three teams did have one loss. OU just lost much later than USC and LSU so all of a sudden it wasn't fair.. As for this year let the season play out.. But I do have to say it's fucked up that Utah is ranked higher than OU in the computer polls, which is OU being ranked 5th in the computer polls is the reason they were bumped to third..
Finally, I do think OU has one pretty tough game left.. Down in College Station against the Aggies.. Kyle Field is one of the toughest road games and the Aggies are playing some good football at the moment..

Yeah, the Aggies have surprised the shit out of me. After watching the Utah game I figured it was gonna be the same kinda year for them. Why can't I remember the coaches name? He was good with TCU. Francione? Anyway, A & M are the real deal

I don't recall any OU fans defending the system. The fact is they had at least as good a case as LSU to play in that game and a better case than USC to play in it last year, no matter the system. The BCS is a load of shit however, it always has been, and every time it fucks up the idiotic NCAA fucks it up even worse the following year. There is no reason there can't be an eight or twelve team playoff at the end of every season. Fuck the bowl games, if they want to exist they can start preseason classics or something so we can be treated to some decent non conference matchups once in a while.

MC thinks the Aggies have improved 77 points in the last twelve months.
oh yeah, and it's impossible to get screwed by the BCS until the final poll comes out.

I guarantee if you had a debate with an OU fan last year right before the national championship game and called the BCS system a load of shit because LSU and USC deserved to be playing one another, 9 times out of 10 they would defend the same system that spit out OU as the No. 2 team in the country. I know every OU fan I talked to (I was in Tulsa for work right around this time) did. I didn't disagree with their motivations, I just disagreed with their logic.
But I agree with you on the whole concept of the BCS. It's garbage to try to convince the public that a playoff system cannot be held when, at the same time, games are starting earlier and earlier every year and the national championship game is being held later and later every year. Here's a concept -- if the concern is adding more games, how about teams drop non-conference, "pre-season" games where they play NUIU and Div. III teams.

To be honest, OU has a lot of idiot fans. Now that that is over with, what I am saying is it wasn't so much the system that was being defended as the result of the system. I still think OU had one of the top two regular seasons last year and that has nothing to do with computers or polls or anything of that nature.

Why idiot fans? Just wandering..
Well, my state is about to have an election for senator that will possibly see a man that advocates the death penalty for doctors who perform abortions take a seat in the United States Senate. I assume a lot of those people are Sooner fans. Plus, Oklahoma's education system just flat out sucks.

Dont put much stock in the initial BCS poll. Every year it has come out, one of the two teams who were in 1 and 2 place, did NOT play for the national title, my guess is USC will go unbeaten, Miami though, isnt consistant enough to finish the season undefeated. So dont look for the "Canes to be there come January. Im looking for a USC v. Wisconsin national championship game..
