It is illegal to ban a film in the U.S.
And Cannibal Ferox is a pretty shameless Cannibal Holocaust rip-off, but hey, I don't care.
i noticed marked similarities in the plots when i read about them. both sound interesting, however.

Cannibal Holocaust has it beat in bans: 33 countries. I believe that's the record, actually.
But yeah, there were loads of similar films then. Cannibalism was a big trend. Umberto Lenzi, who directed Ferox, ripped off Deodato, who directed Holocaust, even more obviously with Eaten Alive. He directly lifted death scenes from Deodato's Jungle Holocaust and spliced them into his film. I mean, not just copying, but using the exact same scenes.
By the way, Jungle Holocaust is pretty much the precursor to Cannibal Holocaust. It's interesting. You should check it out after CH.

I'm going to miss out on so much this Halloween season.
I didn't know Nekromantik was going to be available, I'll have to check that one out. Cannibal Ferox I'm not so sure about, I still haven't gotten around to watching my copy of Cannibal Apocalypse yet.

Cannibal Apocalypse is really nothing like any of the other cannibal films of the era. It's more just a bunch of ex-soldiers, who are supposedly "infected" with a cannibalism disease ( ), going crazy after getting back from war. It's still a good time, though it's possible that I like it because I love Giovanni Radice so much. It does have one of the best shotgun deaths ever, though.
Make sure you watch the documentary on the DVD - it's better than the film itself.

Schramm sounds pretty fucked up. I didn't recognize the title but I've definitely heard people talk about the film before.

hey LV72, what are your thoughts on Anthropophagus? i was thinking of putting that one in my netflix cue
I love it. It's one of my favorite '80s horror movies. However, DO NOT get it from Netflix! They have a SEVERELY edited version that cuts all of the carnage.
